Radio Hosts Heidi and Frank Announce KABC Departure (Sep 10, 2010)

Longtime radio broadcast partners Heidi Hamilton and Frank Kramer announced today that they would be leaving KABC as of October 1st to make way for returning radio and TV personality Larry Elder.

We are sorry to leave KABC, but we will find another way to reach the fans who count on us every day for entertainment, said Hamilton. We are grateful for the opportunity weve had here with KABC, added Kramer. The broadcast duo agreed they would be announcing new show plans in the very near future.

About Heidi Hamilton Heidi Hamilton of the Heidi & Frank Show is the girl next door who is just one of the guys. She's the kind of girl who can dress up and look like a lady on Saturday night but call her on Sunday morning and she'll help you move a couch, too.

About Frank Kramer Frank Kramer has developed into one of radio's most outspoken, quick-witted, and funny talk show hosts. He has topped the airwaves, dominating the AM/FM and Podcast markets for nearly two decades.

Heidi and Frank On Their Own On The Net (Jan 11, 2011)

Irreverent KABC radio hosts Heidi Hamilton and Frank Kramer are pleased to announce they've launched their new radio-on-demand broadcast at http://www.heidiandfrank.com, which began streaming live weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon Pacific Time as of Monday, October 4th.

They built a state-of-the-art studio in Frank's back yard to host their radio show with live video streaming.

An After Hours show follows their Friday broadcasts and brings an edgier look at the world to their audience. It airs from 1-2pm Pacific Time. More on that later in this article.

The "Heidi and Frank" show is a lifestyle entertainment show mostly underscored by the hosts trademark screwball social commentary.

The new broadcast will continue fan favorites, including Should I Stay or Should I Go? and Who's Going to Hell.

Joining them will be producer Erik Scott Smith, whose own too-much-information personal narratives add to the on-air irreverence.

Said Heidi and Frank fan Denise Dorman, "If you love TV shows like "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" or "Modern Family," you should be listening to Heidi and Frank. Their cult of personality, screwball camaraderie and penchant for not-in-mixed-company dialogue is the audio stress reliever everyone needs, especially today."

Hamilton and Kramer are realizing immediate success in bringing their listeners over to Internet radio, where more than 60 million Americans are listening weekly, according to a recent survey by Bridge Ratings. Satellite radio was the seismic shift. It changed how people thought about receiving their audio entertainment, explains Kramer. As podcasting matured, it wasnt a hard sell convincing listeners that its simply radio-on-demand when the sound quality and accessibility are the same, he adds.

The new show is available online at www.heidiandfrank.com free as it is broadcast live.

The success of the new Heidi and Frank Show (www.heidiandfrank.com) is the result of a sixteen year radio odyssey from Denver to Los Angeles, from "Alice," to "Star," to "KLSX," to "KABC" and now exclusively online at heidiandfrank.com.

It all began in 1994. Radio personalities Frosty Stilwell and Frank Kramer were part of the Jamie, Frosty and Frank Show on Denver' Alice 105.9 where they enjoyed high ratings.

In 1998, they moved to Los Angeles's Star 98.7 station, where they quickly rose to prominence as the second highest rated English language show in Los Angeles. They were on air there until 1999.

Enter, stage left, Heidi Hamilton. Little did Hamilton know back in 1998 that her snappy banter as a sidekick news and traffic reporter would result in her becoming a full-time radio celebrity.

In 2000, Los Angeles KLSX-FM started broadcasting the newly formed the Frosty, Heidi and Frank Show. The fan adulation for their on-air chemistry was evident in the ratings where the show was #1 for the valued men 25-54 demographic for eight years. However in 2009, KLSX changed their format and Heidi, Frosty and Frank were on the move again.

That Fall, the show was picked up on KABC-AM for a year and quickly reached a new height: a record-breaking 1.2 million monthly downloads which made their show the most streamed show in the "http://www.citadelbroadcasting.com/" Citadel radio network.

While doing the show within KABC's somewhat confining conservative talk radio format, Hamilton and Kramer soon realized they wanted to go off the reservation and do something a little edgier as a tribute to our fans, Hamilton recalled. They launched an Internet podcast, After Hours with Heidi and Frank, where their take-no-prisoners approach soon made it clear to the fans that no topic was off limits.

With After Hours, Heidi and Frank redefined lifestyle radio with their TMI (Too Much Information) humor incorporating sex, relationships, bodily functions, navel lint and lifes rollercoaster delivered with rapier wit and quick-paced dialogue. It is today one of the Top 10 comedy downloads on iTunes.

For the Frosty, Heidi and Frank trio, terrestrial radio came to a screeching halt in September 2010, when KABC announced they were replacing the Frosty, Heidi and Frank Show with attorney and radio personality Larry Elder.

"We had to punt and quickly," Kramer explained. So, they teamed with Nox Solutions and quickly built a state-of-the-art broadcast studio in Kramers pool house. On October 4, 2010 they launched the new Heidi and Frank Show streaming broadcast, which streams live from 10am-Noon, Pacific Time, and is free to listeners.

In just their first month, subscriptions to the "Heidi and Frank Show" exceeded 6,000 VIP Members; that's more than any other web-only internet TV show, and it is more internet subscribers than most nationally syndicated radio programs. Fans come from all across Los Angeles and Southern California; there are even subscribers in Australia and Brazil.

The site has attracted 315,000 unique visitors and generated over 2.5 million page views, in the first six weeks following its launch, October 4, 2010. But perhaps the most significant statistic is the average amount of time visitors spend on site: 1 hour and 40 minutes per visit. This is because each day, thousands visit the site and listen to the "Heidi and Frank Show" live, as it is being broadcast, as either a free audio stream or a members-only video stream. In total, fans have viewed or listened to the show for a staggering 100,000 hours in the first six weeks it has been available as an online-only Internet TV experience.

Subscribing members can access audio and video streams and podcasts of every show, on-demand, in their entirety, 24/7. All shows may be accessed from PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads, Blackberries and Android devices. Each day web producers edit the best audio and video segments of the show, posting them to the site so that Members can experience show highlights, in addition to streaming each day's show.

Unharnessed from traditional radio's limitations, Heidi and Frank can do practically anything on their show. As a "lifestyle talk" program, they joke about everything, from weird stories in the news, to sex acts and dating techniques. Theres an authenticity to who we are and how we interact that you just cant simulate. I think people have picked up on this and they relate to us, which helps explain the fast-growing fan base outside of our California market, explained Hamilton. Added Kramer, For the cost of just one Starbucks coffee or an iPad app, were delivering 20 plus days of high-quality entertainment monthly. People can justify paying for a subscription when theyre genuinely entertained.

When Heidi and Frank made the transition to the Web, the dynamic duo committed to doing it right. They built a professional broadcast studio in Frank's backyard guesthouse. They installed 4 HD video cameras to deliver the high-end video stream their members deserve. They also chose the best technology partner, Nox Solutions, who manages Internet ecommerce solutions for other major on air personalities like Bill O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller and Lou Dobbs. Said Nox Solutions CEO Payim Zarabi, This is the tipping point in Internet TV the case study that talking heads will point to one day. Heidi and Frank are democratizing their broadcast by creating content their viewers want, and theyve spun this into a successful business model.

Unlike other radio personalities, Heidi and Frank chose not to make available free podcasts of their shows. The free podcast business model is great for hobbyists, but so far it has largely failed to enable broadcast talent to generate enough revenues to pay for bandwidth and personnel. Though a few podcasters sell advertising, very few advertisers are satisfied with usage metrics. Without strong support from advertisers, podcasting is not a viable business for professional talent.

Instead, Heidi and Frank chose a different path, the "paid subscription" model, where fans are invited to become members of their site by paying a small monthly subscription fee. The better they are, the more subscribers they will attract. With this model in mind, Heidi and Frank organized their site around four types of "fan experiences": Free Content, Paid Content, "Live" Content, and "On-Demand" Content.

Because now that Heidi and Frank are producing subscription-supported Internet TV, they work directly for their subscribers. The best way to serve their existing fans and attract more subscribers is to provide them with the very best web experience possible; one that includes free and premium content and one that provides "live" and "on-demand" content experiences. Taken together, the "Heidi and Frank Experience" enables everyone to enjoy the show.

A live video feed of the show is available to subscribing members of HeidiandFrank.com.

Members can also access commercial-free shows on-demand. The edgier After Hours Show follows their regular broadcast on Fridays. The live audio stream is available free. Members can watch the video feed of After Hours and access previous shows on-demand.

The Heidi and Frank Show continues to evolve as they grow their audience from across the web.

In December of 2010, After Hours was named to the "Rewind 2010: Best Podcasts" year-end showcase of the iTunes Stores best podcasts of 2010.

Hamilton and Kramer, formerly top-rated Los Angeles radio personalities on KLSX and KABC, who walked away from successful radio careers just two months ago to go Internet-only, are realizing massive success in the podcast and subscription content arenas alike.

After Hours is a free full-length audio podcast posted every Friday on iTunes that highlights the best after-the-show moments of The Heidi and Frank Show daily web TV series. Unharnessed from traditional media limitations, Heidi and Frank can do practically anything on their show.

As a "lifestyle talk" program, they joke about everything, from weird stories in the news, to sex acts and dating techniques. There's an authenticity to who they are and how they interact that you just cant simulate.

"We feel so validated that our particular brand of lifestyle entertainment is appealing to listeners on iTunes and across the Internet," Hamilton declared. "That was one of the biggest surprises for us that we could grow a fan base this quickly beyond the Left Coast without a mainstream media outlet backing us up," added Kramer.

Being recognized as one of best podcasts of 2010 comes on the heels of another breakthrough success in November. Heidi and Frank became the #1 paid subscriber-supported Internet TV show in America. With more than 6,500 paid subscribers viewing the show online a total of 200,000 hours over its first eight weeks, they are pioneering the paid content industry. Furthermore, the site has attracted 650,000 unique visitors and generated over 6.2 million page views following its launch on October 4, 2010. But perhaps the most significant statistic is the average amount of time visitors spend on site: 1 hour and 40 minutes per visit. This is because each day, thousands visit the site and listen to the "Heidi and Frank Show," to hear and watch it "live."

Heidi and Frank are successful because they focus on the "fan experience"; they work directly for their subscribers. The best way to serve their existing fans and attract more subscribers is to provide them with the very best web experience possible; one that includes free and premium content and one that provides "live" and "on-demand" content experiences plus original video content just for their VIP subscribers. Taken together, the "Heidi and Frank Experience" enables everyone to enjoy the show.

Every "Heidi and Frank Show" and "After Hours" is offered as a "live" audio stream, free to all visitors to heidiandfrank.com.

The dynamic duo is also offering fans an exclusive VIP program, offering members-only material including the following:

Live and On-Demand Video from every show

Archived Video Webcasts
Exclusive Access to Weekly Q&A Sessions
