Question Asked on Twitter (Sep 24, 2009)Is KCR's suspension of it's live web stream temporary or permanent? This message from the KCR website kcr.sdsu.edu: The Internet Stream for KCR is currently down, we are working on it and will let you know as soon as it is back up! Until then catch us on Time Warner Cable Channel 957 and Cox Digital Cable Channel 956. That's great if you have digital cable radio, which I can't afford. I assume that they're having technical difficulties instead of issues with the RIAA
Team Melarky Stays (Sep 24, 2009)The dancing team of Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas have escaped the first week of elimination of "Dancing With The Stars". They get to dance again on Monday. Thanks to all of the readers for voting.
Anyone Have Oprah Sep 23, 2009 Screencaps? My VCR was supposed to tape Oprah Winfrey's show from Sep 23 on Wednesday. Guess what? My VCR taped the WRONG channel. UGH! I kept thinking that it was still on channel 10. When did it move to channel 8?If anyone can help, please e-mail the Val on Oprah screencaps to Me right here at dfsx@dfsxradio.com Thank you in advance. BTW: Valerie and McKenzie will be on ET on Friday, September 25. This time, I got the VCR setting right for that one. Funny. I remember taping Melissa Joan Hart on Dancing, but forget to double check the channel for Valerie Bertinelli. Has "Sabrina" cast some kind of anti-Val spell on me or something? Besides that, my Valerie page got a whopping 2,250 hits in the past five days, and over 1,500 hits on Wednesday! Check it out at http://ladies.davesfunstuff.com/4300.htm My website cluster reached a record 14,855 page views on Wednesday. And, yes, I have a Melissa Joan Hart page as well. Maybe she's been on so much that people were clamoring for Valerie to be on TV once again. Check it out at http://ladies.davesfunstuff.com/4800.htm Joke from All Comedy Radio: And you thought Schneider was creepy. Former "One Day at a Time" star Mackenzie Phillips claims she had a 10-year incestuous relationship with her father "Mamas and Papas" singer John Phillips. Worse, the whole time Papa John was fantasizing about Valerie Bertinelli. Another Joke: Congratulations to Kelly Osbourne for wowing the judges with her debut performance on "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday. Oh, it was beautiful. The audience cheered, Sharon Osbourne wept - and Ozzy bit the head off Tom Bergeron. Question posed on All Access: With the bombshell book and appearance on OPRAH, former "One Day At A Time" star and daughter of MAMAS AND PAPAS leader JOHN PHILLIPS, MACKENZIE PHILLIPS has created a difficult call for stations that play JOHN PHILLIPS' music. Are stations shying away from his music? Anyone representing The Walrus care to respond? I guess people won't be ordering pizza from Papa John's for the time being.

But, even I didn't believe radio consolidation would have turned out this bad. Citadel is negotiating its debt covenant to avoid bankruptcy again even as I write this. Clear Channel's solvency is no slam dunk. And Cumulus, the other one of the big three consolidators, has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. It didn't have to be this way First In: Have the TV people and the NFL done "too good" of a marketing job? It may be only 2 weeks into the season, but I see some indications of this. Over the years, the NFL has been the most effective of the pro sports leagues in terms of building up the league as a whole Randy Dotinga: STATIC: When live radio goes rogue. Also: It seems like I write about a format change at 540 AM about every six months. This time, it's twice in a month. (Hello, Guinness Book of Really Boring World Records?) This time, the station has flipped to Spanish-language programming. Earlier this month, it was temporarily playing golden oldies after switching from a bizarre blend of conservative and liberal talk programming. The station's transmitter is in Tijuana, but its programming has been provided by an L.A. station The Wires (Sep 23, 2009)Third-party stories are copyrighted by their respective owners. Young DJs having fun on the radio. Each year it is becoming harder to find a visible radio on the beach owned by anyone -- of any age. The world is changing and I wonder sometimes whether the people running the radio industry are as interested in this important fact as they are trying to save their own necks Hear 2.0: More Evidence the Music Industry is Run by Fools: It's one thing to get paid when someone plays or hears your song. It's another thing to get paid when someone plays or hears a sample of your song Inside Radio: Congressional opposition to performance royalty grows. Two more Senators and five House members have added their names to a growing list of lawmakers opposed to legislation that would mandate a performance royalty for terrestrial radio. A total of 251 House members and 25 Senators are now on the record in support of the Local Radio Freedom Act, a nonbinding resolution introduced by the NAB in February. "Support in both the House and Senate for free and local radio continues to grow, despite an unprecedented lobbying campaign by RIAA," NAB executive VP Dennis Wharton says. Jim Rome makes largest leap on RadioTime Top 19. The nationally syndicated sports talk show makes the biggest leap up RadioTime's list of the most listened-to programs available on its streaming platform for the month of August. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Steve Harvey finished first, second and third, respectively. A list of the top 49 shows is available at http://inside.radiotime.com
