AM 540/1260 Update (Aug 19, 2009)

From Bryan: "XESURF AM 540 has not flipped completely to a music format. The station is still running some talk programs. According to another site the station will flip to some kind of music format in two to three weeks. The station has extended the great american songbook to start at 05:00 PM instead of 11:00 PM while the new format gets prepared. The station is still simulcasting with am 1260 KGIL out of Beverly Hills. I hope that this clears some confusion up about 540."

From Radio-info.com: Saul Levine's KGIL, Los Angeles (1260) and San Diego-market simulcast partner XESURF (540) change, and that's probably in direct response to losing TRN's Laura Ingraham last week. Owner Saul Levine said then that he's developing a different attitude toward programming he can't control, and sure enough, the only thing playing on KGIL now from 5pm to 11pm is "music." That's how it's listed on the website. The remaining talk lineup is now Glenn Beck, live from 6-9am. Fred Thompson, 9am-1pm (repeating the two original hours). Dr. Dean Edell, just added late yesterday, from 1-2pm. Larry King at 2pm. Then Lars Larson, 3-5pm. There's an hour of "Great American Songbook" at 11pm, then the syndicated "Secure Freedom Radio" hosted by Frank Gaffney - and back to the Songbook, overnights.
