Say Goodbye to VHF TV Sound Radio (Feb 13, 2009)Listening to the audio of "All My Children" during lunchtime on your VHF TV sound radio? Come Wednesday, you'll be out of luck. (note: someone illegally uploads the latest episodes on youtube.com.)Looking for a portable TV set to watch golf while you're resting in Mission Bay Park? Where are they? I still can't find them! Come Wednesday, you won't be able to listen to the audio of KFMB 8 and KGTV 10 anymore on your TV sound radio receivers because when those two channels turn off their analog signals, the radios won't be able to receive the audio of the TV stations anymore because they can't decode digital signals. XETV digital channel 6 is planning to replace its news and CW programming with Televisa 9 on Wednesday, so commuters who listen to Fox 6 News, oops, I mean CW 6 News or whatever it's named, won't be able to listen to the audio of channel 6 for news anymore. For evening commuters, no more audio of "South Park" or "King of the Hill" either. Nowhere in town do I see any radios that can pick up TV audio from digital TV stations, or portable digital TV sets that can tune them in. This is why the economy is suffering. The electronics retailers are pushing HD radio instead of radios that can get audio from digital TV stations. Do you think that some AM radio stations in San Diego could relay the audio of the local news programs from XETV on KCBQ or XEPE?
