Dehesa Valley Gazette (Feb 3, 2009)Author: Jimmy Valentine.kogojimmyv@gmail.com - e-mail him if you want to be a part of his new mailing list since Roger repossessed the original Flashfax mailing list. http://www.dehesavalleygazette.com DEHESA VALLEY GAZETTE http://www.dehesavalleygazette.com http://www.youtube.com/dehesavalleygazette Published periodically from San Diego, CA (The Official BUT UNAUTHORIZED Organ Of Mayor Jimmy Valentine) TUESDAY FEBRUARY 3RD 2009 To subscribe or unsubscribe email kogojimmyv@gmail.com MISS AN ISSUE OF THE DVG? CATCH UP HERE: http://c316.org/DVG-2009-0123.html Please, please, please…Stop it. Somebody has begun a terrible rumor and it threatens the very existence of the Dehesa Valley Gazette. Roger does not have access to the new subscriber list. He cannot call you at your place of business to harass you. He cannot picket outside your home and he cannot leave threatening notes in your mailbox. And as far as we can tell, unless you work for Clear Channel, he cannot have you fired. The new subscriber list is in a "lock box," and only I (and Noreen & Freedom) have access. And no, Roger will not have access to your email either at your place of work or at home. Please stop the rumors. It is no rumor, according to insider CC sources, that a bit of paranoia has set in at 9660 Granite Ridge Drive. Great caution is being exercised by staffers who might have in the past sent an email note to a fired CC employee or flashed a quick note off to Mom via the CC email system. Even hallway conversations are now being monitored at CC HQ, from what we are told. Some folks have taken to passing notes in place of conversation. Many folks are afraid to speak freely on the company phone system and are quickly erasing any suspicious voice mail messages. We have heard, but cannot confirm at this writing, that a bonus is being offered to those who report others for speech transgressions. You thought Big Brother was bad…Big C (and Big R) is way nasty. MUTTERINGS **Radio ads work. Case in point. I'm listening to KNX last week on the car radio (my doctor will not allow me to listen to local radio while I'm taking medication) and on comes a spot for Albertson's Supermarkets. Big beef sale. I'm like half listening. I do have to stop to pick up milk and cookies (okay, so I needed a jug of Jack, shut up). I go to the Albertson's up in Alpine. I get my list stuff and wander by the beef case. Some sale. A package of four good sized rib eye steaks are selling for $41.47. Hello!! But I look closer at the tag and with my Preferred Card the price is $16.56. I look again. It be true. That's like just over 4-bucks a steak. My unemployment check is due and I can make $16.56 work. Without the radio ad, I'd have been eating another round of that noodle soup crap. **Does Homefront San Diego still live? Yep. We're taking emergency calls from low ranked military families at 866-424-9467. (same number works for folks who want to help a military family). Our cadre of wonderful unpaid volunteers are taking the calls, delegating to various other volunteers and we are repairing cars, helping with finances, making sure new born babies have food and formula and carting donated furniture from donor to Navy and Marine families. We have lost Roger's radio platform (can't be supporting our military on a national show - that is so provincial) that was so critical to Homefront, but we're trying to encourage KOGO to continue to support us. Because we have no budget, no paid staff, no overhead, we have seriously relied on KOGO to help us get word out to families and donors that there is work to do, daily, for the families who serve beside their Warriors. We are determined to continue regardless. Speaking of which, we need donated cars. We gave our last vehicle away to a wounded warrior. We need cars that run or need limited repair to be safe and reliable. We do all the work for you (paperwork, fix up the vehicle, title transfer etc). And unlike giving a car to a typical charity that will auction your vehicle…..giving you just a percentage of the sale for tax write off…if you give US your car you can deduct full market value. You win. A military family wins. Can it get better than that? Call 866-424-9467 and we'll take it from there. Oh, take a look at some of the cars (vans) that have been donated, fixed up and then given (free) to military families without a vehicle recently. These pix courtesy of our great Homefront San Diego buds at North County Warrior Support. Your donated vehicle will be a blessing as well: http://www.ncws.org/accomplishments.html **Roger's new national show is going great guns. We made some phone calls to markets where Roger's show has premiered and woof. He's taking the airwaves by storm. He's kicking butt on WTBF in Troy, Alabama. He's on from 11a - 2p on Saturdays. But it won't belong before he takes over Dennis Miller's slot from 6p - 9p (eastern) Monday - Friday. Same success story in Ocala, Florida. There Roger airs from 6p - 7p (eastern) on some weekdays. They kinda rotate him with Nascar, Florida football and The Gutter Guys. It's tough to tell exactly where Roger is on because a lot of his stations don't have web sites and you can't tell if or when he is on…like in Euphdrata, Washington. Looks like KXL Radio in Portland carries him on the weekends along with Hirshfield & Kula and Bjorkman & Morrison. Roger remains big on the weekends, on tape delay. He tried to snag the weekend stations from the syndicator he had with his failed Saturday effort with some success. But in these times it's hard to give a show away even on the weekends and on tape delay. Lots of small stations sell weekend shows as kinda infomercials. In those cases shows that make money are better than shows you get for free. Watch this space for further success updates. **More emails from faithful Gazette readers: Dear Mr. Valentine, At your convenience, please add me to your email distribution list for the Dehesa Valley Gazette. I have been reading your excellent DVG via the link @ San Diego Radio News and appreciate the updates on your status, opinions and the latest regarding Roger and his immense ego. Given the fact that I was a faithful longtime listener (beginning in the late 1980's when I was at SDSU), I listened with increasing sadness over the years as Roger's ego exponentially swelled to an unbearable level. I believe it was 2006, or thereabouts, when I finally had enough and tuned out for good. Unfortunately, many of my friends and family have done the same. It was a bittersweet moment given the fondness which I have for both you and Mac and I have greatly missed your outstanding voice, input and honesty. I would like to express a very belated thank you for that, as well as for all of your efforts on behalf of our military families. I am truly sorry for the reprehensible manner in which you were treated (Mac also) and I wish you and yours all the best. Dan Jimmy - Could you put me back on the Gazette distribution list. Thanks, Ed Jimmy, Have they censored your emails now? I haven't received a flashfax in over a month. John Jimmy, A local radio show on the internet would be great.. have it on from 3pm to 6pm.. I have given up on Mr. Rogers show, and listen to John and Ken.. they at least talk about issues that pertain to southern california and the state...That morning guy is a loser as well, Chip, maybe KOGO can get a replacement for him, but then I listen to Rick Roberts, he is good at times and is local.. Bet of Luck to you JImmy, and get a local internet show.. James Hey Jimmy, Charging for the Gazette is not a bad idea. But you would need several subscription plans to accommodate for different income levels. $12.50 a year I get the Gazette 5 times a week. $25.00 a year I get the Gazette twice a week $50.00 a year I get the Gazette once a month, OHHH, wait a minute. That is the pricing plan for The Roger Report. I?ll need to rethink this... (-: **Love Ya Bye!!
