Dehesa Valley Gazette (January 22, 2009)Author: Jimmy Valentine.kogojimmyv@gmail.com - e-mail him if you want to be a part of his new mailing list since Roger repossessed the original Flashfax mailing list. http://www.dehesavalleygazette.com Published periodically from San Diego, CA (The Official BUT UNAUTHORIZED Organ Of Mayor Jimmy Valentine) THURSDAY JANUARY 22ND 2009 To subscribe or unsubscribe email kogojimmyv@gmail.com I guess when we say, "published periodically," we mean it. Tuesday was all inauguration. Yesterday was Homefront San Diego, a breakfast meeting with soon to be SD County Sheriff Jay LaSuer and then some chef work (I'm unemployed so for some reason Noreen figures I should do household chores…well burp me). But the key board calls. MUTTERINGS **First thanks to a continuing number of folks who miss the Gazette and have asked to be reinstated. Faithful readers are now receiving an unsolicited daily sales flier from Roger and his PR team that is about as much fun to read as directions on how to safely operate a toaster (in Spanish). I have posted some of the requests for reinstatement below. I am in your debt. Pass the word and we'll slowly reinstate our entire subscription list. **Clear Channel has made good on it's vow to reduce staff nationwide. 18-hundred men and women lost their jobs on Tuesday. Some 50 or more were tossed to the street in San Diego. Clear Channel continues it's quest to produce "one voice," in America…homogenizing music, talk and news and eliminating any distinguishing local broadcast remnants. Roger has sacrificed San Diego to broadcast his radio show to Paintsville, Kentucky (WKYH) and Eveleth, Minnesota (KRBT). KOGO continues it's local morning show with Chip Franklin, an avowed comic whose brand of humor was best characterized this week by suggesting that the two Obama daughters were busted for under aged drinking. The KOGO news room is largely vacated. Your voice echoes when you speak in the empty confines. There are barely enough "voices," to fill news air shifts and it is a dangerous challenge to find a reporter to leave the building to attend a news event, even if it is the typical "ribbon cutting," story that KOGO has specialized. The station partners with a local TV station to fill news airtime and offer a semblance of localism. We wish our newly unemployed friends the best. I have worked along side many of them and know of their skill and professionalism. One caution, please no line jumping at the unemployment office, I was there first. **There is at least talk of creating an internet based LOCAL RADIO SHOW utilizing the skills of fired CC employees. I got a call from Chris Murch at WS radio shortly after I was fired by Roger. And a good bud who has transplanted from San Diego to Texas wants to be helpful. Hummm. Watch this space. **Oh, above I reference my newly assigned chore as household chef in the Valentine residence (The Mayor's Mansion). Some of my newly fired fellows (and gals) may find that fate awaits them as well. May I be helpful. It don't cost a lot but it's a great monthly cooking mag that has great recipes for low cost meals. The recipes come from kitchens across America. Tried and true and many handed down from Mom and Grandmom. Take a look and see..okay, otherwise stock up on Hamburger Helper. http://www.tasteofhome.com/ **President Bush forgot one pardon as he left office. He forgot Muntazer al-Zaidi. The Iraqi journalist has mostly "disappeared," since he tossed a couple of brogans at Bush in December (a parting gift from the Iraqi people). He was immediately beaten, his pain shouted out as Bush continued his Green Zone farewell news conference. Word continues to come that he as been tortured and has not yet faced a tribunal. Things shore have changed since we toppled Saddam. Huh? **And finally here are some of the great emails from y'all. Thanks and be patient. It will take time to get all our faithful readers back on the rolls: morning, Jimmy! Please add me back in to the list. I, also, find myself dumping Roger's junk mail without reading it. Glad to read I ain't alone. I also found myself chuckling at the story telling of RH's stepping on his…*ahem* at CC. Best laugh I've had in awhile! Bret One has to wonder if 23 of 24 jury members that voted Roger "Guilty" many years ago were right all along. Roger hasn't left the sleezy world of backroom deals, has he? His new show isn't new, just an imitation of many others. I hope some station will hire a good local guy or gal and do local stuff. Sooner the better. In recent years, Roger's show was mostly advertisements anyway. Sounds like Roger and Brett needed some planning and legal help from Legal Zoom, the outfit Roger promotes. That's called getting the cart before the horse, I think, and poetic justice; or, as my grandmother used to caution: "As you sow, so shall you reap." Rosie Jimmy, Put my email on your list. I always looked forward to reading them on a daily basis. You always had a nice take on everything happening in SD, Home front, SD city council, Dehesa Valley, Father Joe and everything else in SD. Sometimes I enjoyed it more than Roger's diatribe. You always did a good job replacing Roger. Keep up the good work!! Since we moved to Oregon (my wife is from here) your newsletter has been my only San Diego information source. I hope it can continue as such. Thanks for your efforts in "unslanting" the news, To my surprise, in my bulk mail folder I found a newsletter email from your former employer. There was a statement in there that led me to believe I might no longer get your email. This is the first daily Roger Report with highlights from the new national show. I hope you enjoy it. On a down note, it's come to my attention that you may have received unauthorized messages over the last month from a former employee. I have secured the mailing list for the Roger Report to prevent this from happening in the future. If you have any questions regarding anything in those unauthorized messages, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at roger@ogerhedgecock.com. Thanks for Listening! If he wants to start his own, I guess more power to him. I know that I quite specifically joined up to get YOUR emails. I hope to continue to get them Regards and thanks Jimmy, Sorry to hear that you are in the unemployment line. As smart and sharp as you are, I'll wager it will not be for long! Keep the Dehesa Valley Gazette coming my way please -- I haven't received one since 1-06-09. I always enjoy reading about my old stomping grounds -- San Diego wasn't particularly good to me when I lived there, but I enjoyed the area from 1965 to 1994. WOW and WOW. It's in great shape. Thank you so much for making this happen for this deserving family. Amber showed me the picture of you giving her the keys! Cpl Damon was injured in Iraq and he and his family have a long struggle ahead of them but HOMEFRONT put a smile on their face with this car. I've never seen them so happy. Please thank everyone who had anything to do with the donation and let them know that they took a huge load of worries off of this family. A huge load. Amazing work you all do. Thank you and God Bless you, Mary RN Case Manager Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton And this note speaks to the really lousy job we do as a nation to provide for our military families. Families that send their men and women to combat TIME AND TIME AGAIN. How dare we!! This note from our Homefront San Diego admin page reflecting a call to our hotline: Wife had a root canal and crown, bill was $700 and paid all but $217. She still has only packing and temporary and the doctor will not put in the full crown until $217 is paid off. Is in some pain. Needs same on other side but will tell them just to pull it as she can't afford the root canal and crown. Will have LES available should HFSD decide to help her. Homefront will help. I don't want that second tooth pulled and we'll pay the bill for the first tooth to be completed as well. (sorry, You'll pay…thank you for every dollar you send to Homefront San Diego) GOD BLESS AMERICA WE REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 STAND TALL FOR TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE - FIGHT ON!!
