Who knew?” Rhodes said to laughter. “What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is, she’s such a f*****g whore.” A few minutes later, Rhodes said”Hillary is a big f*****g whore too.” She then suggested Clinton was trying to force her way into the Democratic nomination by manipulating pledged delegates. “Oh, f**k you, okay, f**k you,” she said Inside Music Media: From Jerry Del Colliano -- Radio talk is popular with older folks but not the next generation. Radio, television and newspapers are trying to dig themselves out of their audience and financial rut by doing all the wrong things - News reporting sucks. Look at the cable networks. MSNBC is the left wing answer to Fox. Chris Mathews seems to be imitating himself these days or that famous Saturday Night Live parody. Keith Olbermann’s scorched earth reporting attacks President Bush until he becomes a lame duck and then he takes a new number and Hillary Clinton is now it. In a way Olbermann has become a lot like the guy he hates - Fox’s Bill O’Reilly. CNN doesn’t really do news. They do a lot of promos, though. ABC World News isn’t really about the world. CBS Evening News is soft and Brian Williams is not Tom Brokaw and neither is his show like the NBC News that preceded him FM 94/9 March Music Madness Concluding (Apr 4, 2008)March Music Madness has been a wild ride. We're down to the Elite 8 and thanks to your voting we've got a very select group of artists remaining. The Elite 8 match-ups will feature two hour blocks of music and kick off on Friday at 10am. Read below as we preview the Elite 8 match-ups.The Cure vs. Devo :: 10am to 12 noon - Freedom of choice and kisses galore, the pioneering, Devolving Ohio New Wavers and Cinderella story of FM 94/9 March Music Madness take on the pasty-white, sunstroke-in-waiting amateur brewmeisters of The Cure in 80s bracket action. Smith vs. Mothersbaugh. One team moves on to glory, the other takes their mongoloid flower pots or mommy's stolen make-up drawer and goes home, as Gut Feeling meets Fascination Street. Radiohead vs. The White Stripes :: 12 noon to 2pm - Red and white mints vs. amnesiac Brits. Are you ready for everything to be in it's right place in this 00s jump ball? You can only hope to contain Jack and Meg's deadly arsenal of Detroit low-fi, sludge-happy dinosaur riffs, and crash-boom drums as they hit the court against an energized, numerically-superior Radiohead team ready to do battle with future-ready music, paranoid androids, iron lungs, and fake plastic trees. Led Zeppelin vs. The Clash :: 2pm - 4pm - An even four vs. four matchup between the only band that ever really mattered and the biggest underground band of its era. Strummer vs. Plant as the colossal Led Zeppelin wades into the Final Four fray against the one band with the cred to knock them out of their historic top seat atop rock royalty. Complete Control faces off against Rock and Roll, Combat Rock in the Houses of the Holy, Spanish Bombs and Black Dogs, The Clash vs. Led Zep in the matchup which will define the 70s bracket. Nirvana vs. Weezer :: 4pm - 6pm - One band kicked rock and roll in the ass the moment it needed it the most, the other broke songs down into mathematic formulas with slide rules and barre chords, both had so-called "blue" albums, both arguably led by geniuses/pains in the ass. One band changed the world with one song about teen spirit, the other one gently sang about pulling a string. Nirvana takes on 90s survivor Weezer in a showdown of the Generation X decade when alternative became profitable, and at the end of the day, no matter who wins, David Geffen still gets paid. After Friday's Elite 8 contests, we'll have the Final Four on Saturday. The winner of 70s bracket will face off against the winner of the 80s bracket in a two-hour match-up at 11am. Then from 3pm - 5pm on Saturday, the band to emerge from the 90s bracket will go note for note with the winner of the 00s. And finally, March Music Madness will all come to a dramatic conclusion on the afternoon of Monday, April 7th when the Championship Match-Up hits the airwaves from 2 - 4pm. Remember to vote along the way for your favorite artist(s) and help us crown a March Music Madness Champion. As always, thanks for being an Insider. Sincerely, Owen - FM 94/9 Promotions |
