Chris Cantore Off 91X (Dec 29, 2007)

The year 2008 will ring in without Chris Cantore at 91X. Chris will tell us more about it next year. His new e-mail address is chriscantore@gmail.com

His co-host Jennifer White left 91X in November to take a morning job at Sophie FM.

Program director Phil Manning is searching for a replacement for the morning drive, as well as for the night host Kallao, and Al Guerra, who quit this month as host of Loudspeaker, which airs in the unwakable hours of 1-3am Monday mornings.

Interested talent can e-mail Manning at philmanning@91x.com or send materials to:

Reaction: Chris Off 91X (Dec 29, 2007)

That sucks, bro, I had been hearing rumors about them changing the format and everything, but was hoping that they were just rumors. Is it really gonna be Christian Rock?

If there's anything the listeners can do, you should post something, we got your back.

Stuff like this, I just think "sliding glass doors," one closes and another opens, right? Anyways, best wishes, and it was a pleasure listening to your show.

bad news about 91x- You were a big inspiration for me- I listened for years from PCH from Oxnard/Ventura to Santa Monica. I could only hear XTRA in the summer- but I always listened to your show- drop me a line & let me know where you end up dude- If you need anything- get at me!

whoa, what a shame. i can only assume you have left because there is either something else so great you couldn't pass it up, or there is something so terrible about working at 91x that you just had to split. i recently accepted another job as well, that is leaving quite a few disappointed people behind (nowhere near the same magnitude... i am a scientist, not a public personality, but "i get it" :) ). glad to hear you're taking it easy with the family and getting some waves. i am very sorry i will not have your show to crack me up in the am as i drive to work anymore, but i wish you the best. hope all's well.

regards, bryan

Hey Chris,

I just found out that you won't be returning to 91X and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your show. I'm a college radio DJ right now and my current dream is to be a morning show DJ. I've been listening to tons of morning shows to try to figure out how to do the job, and your show on 91X was by far and away my favorite.

I think I liked your show the best because you never seemed to be acting when you were on the air. A lot of DJs try to be the next Howard Stern by doing these raunchy, ridiculous segments which only Howard can really pull off.

Hopefully I'll hear you on the air again soon in San Diego, but if not, good luck to you and your family in whatever life brings you.

Thanks

Dan

I'm sure you are recieving numerous emails and comments that profess how sad they are that you are leaving 91x and I have to jump on that band wagon. I think I've been listening to you since you began Cantore in the Morning. Your show was the one redeeming feature having to return to living in San Diego. I'm seriously going to have to start listening to NPR in the morning as the one quality show will be gone. So Chris Cantore, thank you for lasting so long, and thank you for calling my prom date in 2000 and pretending to be my dad. Quality memories. Best of luck.

Please tell me that the Grinch has not truly stolen Christmas. My holiday had been running smoothly until this morning, when I reluctantly listened to Chris Cantore's (hopefully NOT) last morning broadcast. Just the thought of not having this true San Diego icon cracking me up at 6 in the morning is just too much for me to wrap my mind around right now. What are you guys thinking? Throw out the smiles that this man has given to me and tons of listeners throughout the years and just go on his cred. When he gets down and serious, your listeners ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS. Do I agree with everything he says? Of course not. But is he one honest voice out there? Of course he is. In this same vein, your station will not only be losing a wonderful, loving family man that connects with your listeners, young and old alike, but your credibility will be taking a huge shot across the bow. I'm hoping you sit back and reason this out. That being the case, I fully expect to start the new year with my morning radio bud. Thanks for listening,

Robert

hey chris,

i was wondering where you have been so i decided to do some investigating. i was bummed to see that you will no longer be at 91x. i just wanted to give you thanks for your great work. ive been a loyal listener for a while. i am in orthopedic surgical sales and i always enjoyed my early morning drives to the hospitals around san diego listening to your show. your great attitude towards life and your sense of humor made the show what it was. judging from the positivity that you displayed on air, i know you will be just fine. this is just a slight bump in the road that leads to bigger and better things. good luck with your future and hopefully we will hear from you soon.

Is Phil Manning running 91X now? If so, this figures. Egomaniacal a-hole who rode the trendy mid to late 90's wave of Alternative and fooled people that he actually had a clue. He doesnt. Hopefully Cantore will "land on his feet" but things are tough, especially for people with talent who don't read liner cards or suck up to sales.

The only reason I continued to listen to 91X even as their programming became increasingly mediocre was Cantore in the Morning. Now that Chris Cantore has been mercilessly let go, it's time to switch to 94.9 for good. PD Phil Manning is an idiot, and even more so if he even thinks of unloading the legendary Steve West.

I was terrified to check your myspace in case my worst nightmare was true...I was just hoping you were on a christmas vacation or something...

I can't believe cantore in the morning is no more. What's the deal at 91x? It seems like they are preparing to change platforms and go soft KYXY on us. First Jennifer...now the CC... unbelievable...maybe clear channel was better after all.

Anyhow, my best to you through this, I hope you have an ace up your sleeve. Please let us know how we can tune back into you, my mornings are so boring now...

I mean, what am I supposed to do now...Jeff and Geriatric?! Yikes!

Stay strong brotha,

Hope to see you in the water,

David.
