100 Greatest TV Icons (Nov 14, 2007)

TV Land, another cable network, has published their compiled list of the top 100 Greatest TV Icons, the ones that they say are legends, but for me, some are questionable. Check out the list here:

http://www.tvland.com/originals/50greatesttvicons/toplist.jhtml

Some on the list I just don't get. At #100 is Marcia Cross, who is basically a soap actress from One Life to Live, Melrose Place, and Desparate Housewives. She's an okay actress, but not in my list of the top 100.

At #96 is Shannen Doherty, who was on Little House: A New Beginning, Our House, 90210, Charmed, and a few short-lived series. That might have put her in the top 100 based on how much work she's done, but for me, she's not in my top 100, but was until she quit 90210 and Charmed midway through the series runs.

At #93 is Neil Patrick Harris, the Doogie Howser guy. Why?

At #65 is Pamela Anderson. She's done some half-dozen series on and off since 1991. Her acting is bad, but looked good during her peak in Baywatch, buy sorry, Pammy, not in my top 100.

At #49, Calista Flockhart, the Ally McBeal star from the late 90s. Doesn't do anything for me.

At #42 is James Gandolfini, which is remarkable despite being only on a pay-TV channel that only a third of the population with TV sets subscribes to. I'd have to disqualify that since I can't get pay TV (because it costs money, of course.)

At #39 is Jennifer Aniston. Probably the most successful former Friends cast member, but doesn't do much for me. She's just not sexy, but rather annoying.

At #15 is the groupling "Not Ready for Primetime Players" from the 1975-1980 era of "Saturday Night Live." Why group them all into one rank? Some of them are not Top 100 certifiable.

What would you put in your top 10 TV icon list? I want to know.
