Chuck Riley Passes (May 12, 2007)In a world where voice-over talents are taken for granted and ignored, listeners of radio and viewers of television are bombarded with an unseen distinguishable voice being heard doing announcements for several different stations in many markets.Over the past several years, you may have recognized one such voice you've heard in the past two decades yet could not put a name on it. One such well-recognized voice-over talent has been silenced. Voice over artist Chuck Riley, who you heard doing announcements for Power 106 and ABC 7, as well as for movie ads such as "Titanic", passed away Thursday, May 10, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 66. In 1997, Riley and former radio station program director Adam Goodman began working together to manage Riley’s career and create new station opportunities for him. Less than a year later, he launched VoiceHunter.com to help radio stations find out more about Riley. Goodman, who promoted Riley as “the VO guy the other guys looked up to,” said he was “one of the best at this craft that ever lived. The best this industry has to offer; both in front of and behind the mic.” Riley's voice over work was heard also on WQHT in New York as well as most every top ten radio market among the list of stations he did announcements for. In order to share Riley’s legacy, Goodman has removed the VoiceHunter.com Web site and replaced it with a tribute where friends and fans can leave messages for a few days. The page includes a demo of Riley’s work that the VoiceHunter.com president hopes will inspire the voice talent of tomorrow. On behalf of VoiceHunter.com and myself we extend our deepest sympathy to Chuck's family and close friends. We want to share the legacy of Chuck's amazing life and career, so for the next few days we are removing our website. In its place will be a site of remembrance. Please share your Chuck stories with us or words of sympathy and inspiration by e-mailing to talent@voicehunter.com. We believe this is what Chuck would have wanted. He is forgoing a funeral and instead asking if you can make even a slight contribution to Vitas Hospice, c/o Charitable Fund, 16830 Ventura Blvd., Suite 315, Encino, CA, 91436.
