Equimas is 10 Days Away! (Mar 11, 2007)

Thanks to DST, I have one less hour to do my holiday shopping. I'm planning to spend two weeks in the mythical region of El Zona once again, but if you think living in San Diego and Tijuana with two time zones is bad, El Zona is even worse when the communities east and west of the time zone choose whether or not to go on Daylight time. You could be heading east on Mountain West Daylight time, then cross a time zone boundary and move your clock two hours back because a community in Western Time stays on Standard time. Or you could go east from a community on Western Daylight time, cross the time zone boundary, and not move your clock ahead because another community is on Mountain West Standard Time.

It gets even more confusing. Come the last Sunday in May through the first Sunday in September, some communities in the El Zona region are going to Double Daylight time to save even more daylight. Imagine a patchwork of confusion as nobody knows for sure how to move their clocks for what community they travel to in the El Zona region. Should you move your clock back or forth or leave it alone, or move it ahead one hour,or back one, or ahead two hours, or back two, or ahead three, or back...whatever. I'm glad vacation time doesn't come for me during the summer.

The SDN Equimas Party is at a secret location this year and it takes place on Wednesday. At this rate, we'll be spending it in the state of Howareya, where it's against the law to change your clocks.
