Young Favor Internet Over TV. Aided by the increased choice online, users are switching off the television and changing the way they consume media by tailoring what they watch to their personal tastes.

Britain’s “FCC” Sees the End of the FM Radio Road. Ofcom is the United Kingdom's version of the FCC, and, after concluding that services such as mobile television could make better use of the FM spectrum, sees the eventual end to FM radio, although it may be several decades before that actually happens.

Raw Story. Ed Schultz, the nation’s largest progressive talk radio host, is moving head-to-head with Rush Limbaugh’s show sometime in December, industry insiders familiar with the deal tell RAW STORY. The move – which puts Schultz in the choice noon to 3 p.m. window – will also bring him face-to-face with Air America’s flagship talker, Al Franken.

NY Daily News: As XM and Sirius Satellite Radio gingerly monitor their busiest selling season, Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin has again raised the possibility the two companies could merge. But there's no indication from either company a merger is imminent or even inevitable.

Happy Hare: A year has passed since I began sending you stories about my (mis) adventures as a morning radio host, but this week, I dedicate my space to this moving poem written by a serviceman in Iraq.

Hear 2.0. Good thing I never bought an advertised for $99 HD Radio that I read in a fake news release on some other radio news websites. It may be the best time of the year, but is it the best time for HD radio? Not according to a story from the trenches at Best Buy (read more - Mark Ramsey-Hear 2.0).

fmqb.com reports that Kevin Stapleford has exited his post as VP of Programming for Finest City Broadcasting's Modern Rock XTRA (91X) and Rhythmic Oldies XHRM. It was Stapleford's second tour of duty at 91X. Former KROQ/Los Angeles PD Trip Reeb, who has been consulting for Finest City, will temporarily handle programming for 91X. XHTZ PD Rick Thomas will add XHRM to his duties.

Last December 23, 2005, the first song of mine, "I'm Doing Nothing For Christmas" got a spin during my syndicated seven-hour comedy holiday marathon on Oldies 1520, WQMA, in Marks, Mississippi. It's available on "Stupid Audio 2.0" from the Stupid Audio website http://www.davidtanny.com/

In the past few months, one of my songs, "What if Your Wife was a Man" got some play on the Friggin' Here radio show on 89.7 WITR in Henrietta, NY, http://www.modernmusicandmore.com/ as well as two spins of "Gold" (often referred to as F---in Gold), "I've Seen Everything" (a parody of "I've Been Everywhere"), and another novelty song "Centipede", all from "Stupid Audio 3.0" available at http://www.davidtanny.com/. You can listen to the Friggin Here radio show streaming for free Saturdays at NOON Eastern time 11am Central and 9pm Pacific Time and request songs live on the air.

"What if Your Wife" also got a spin on Captain Wayne's Mad Music Show, a fast growing community of demented music where the host runs the website full of podcasts of his "Mad Music Show" episodes, maintains an active forum for interacting with his listeners, has a searchable database of playlists (including Dr. Demento Show playlists though unauthorized as far as I know), lists of songs and artists, friends, and features such as "Manic Mondays" hosted by Tom Rockwell and "Freakin' Funny Music" hosted by Jake Peters.

After 18 years of trying, I finally got some exposure on the long running Dr. Demento radio show http://www.drdemento.com/ on July 2 and 23 when he spun an edited version of "Mariah Carey's Screamin' Hits".

KRLA/Los Angeles Boosts Power To 50kw. Salem Communications news/talk KRLA/Los Angeles has increased its daytime signal from 20,000 to 50,000 watts. Salem officials report that the power boost will increase KRLA's coverage to include an additional 1.3 million listeners in the greater Los Angeles area.
