91X Newsletter (Mar 22, 2006)

My ears are still ringing after seeing The Sounds this past Monday night for the 91X NEXT BIG THING. If you were there, yours may be too.  It was insanity! Thanks to The Sounds, Goldspot and The Reputation for playing, and big love to all of you who came out, spent 91 cents on a ticket and packed the Casbah.  If you couldn’t make it in, check out the crazy pictures and remember you can still see The Sounds this Friday night (that’s tomorrow, right?) downtown at the House of Blues.  Stay tuned for another 91X NEXT BIG THING concert to be announced SOON.

Next week, it’s almost like we are giving birth! Not as messy but we are just as excited: 91X is proud to bring you the return of the 91X bumper sticker!  Super old-school stylee with the same oval shape you know and love.  As 91X enters a new era of independence from corporate ownership (we’re FREE!!!), we decided to let our infamous oval bumper sticker make a statement about our newfound freedom. We think you’ll dig it and hope you’ll join us in proudly displaying your allegiance to the truly independent 91X on your car, boat, guitar case, surfboard, or forehead.  Starting Monday, you can pick up the new sticker at any San Diego Del Taco restaurant, or listen to 91X for details on our sticker kick-off party next Friday (3/31) at ‘Canes in Misison Beach . Put one on and share the love for the newly, truly independent 91X!

Tonight (3/23) we invite all ocean-lovers to join 91X, Surf-Aid International, and the Surfrider Foundation for the “Water for Life” benefit for clean water at On Broadway.  This fund-raiser will help the organizations working to keep our oceans clean and providing humanitarian aid to people living in isolated coastal regions.  Catch live music from The White Buffalo, Lady Dottie & the Diamonds, and Spoken Gun.  Doors open at 8:00 P.M., tickets are $20 at the door or $15 in advance at www.wanttickets.com (enter keywords ‘water for life’).

Plus, Audioslave are almost done with their new record? Built to Spill had to cancel their spring tour? Get yer 91X music news fix right here, why dontcha.

And while you’re at it, preview the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album "Show Your Bones," here

Loving you!
