Katrina Relief Comedy CD Being Produced (9:00pm September 19, 2005)

How about some music such as what you hear on dfsx and Dr. Demento?

Let's pair that off with a purpose to raising money to find relief efforts of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Those of you who bought the first volume in 2003, "Laughter Is a Powerful Weapon" which benefited the WTC Widows and Orphans Fund, may remember what a great CD it was. It featured a lot of interesting comedy and novelty music on it.

The first CD we made has raised over $1000 and continues to make money for the Twin Towers Orphan Fund but it's time to step up and do what we can for the victims of Hurricane Katrina!

Grant Baciocco of Throwing Toasters/The Radio Adventures Of Dr. Floyd and Jean Prior of Druidsfire Productions are putting together a brand new compilation of awesome comedy music!

Laughter is a "Powerful Weapon Volume 2" is in the works right now. Subtitled "Funny Musicians for a Serious Cause", this CD features recordings by folks such as the Nick Atoms, Worm Quartet, the Hot Waffles, Barnes & Barnes, Tom Smith, and the Brobdingnagian Bards. All (and we mean *all*) proceeds are going directly to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina via the American Red Cross.

The disc is now in the production stage, and it is at this time where the producers ask your help.

Production of the CD will cost approximately $1500. They are beginning to collect the pressing costs for the CD thanks to private donations. What they are in need of now is approximately 30 "angels" who would be willing to donate $50 each towards the pressing costs so that they may move forward. Those who donate $50 will have their name in the "thanks" section of the liner notes and will receive a copy of the benefit CD. All money raised above our $1500 goal will be donated to the charity.

Thank you all in advance for your support of the project, as it will definitely help those who need it.

Weird Al Contributes Song to Charity CD (Oct 11, 2005)

Here's some interesting news you won't see in the U-T.

International comedy music Super-Star, "Weird Al" Yankovic will lend the rare Placebo Records version of his song "Happy Birthday" to "Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon Vol. 2." 100% of the profits of the CD will go to the American Red Cross to aid in relief for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Grant Baciocco, who is co-producing the CD along with Jaye Prior, is excited to have "Weird Al" aboard.

"We have an incredible line-up of funny musicians on this CD," says Baciocco, "With the addition of "Weird Al", this truly makes it a CD of the very best in Comedy Music." Joining Al on the CD his drummer, Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz, with his newly remixed version of "Mr. Ghost Goes To Town" and comedy music legends Barnes & Barnes (writers of the song "Fish Heads") with the unreleased song "Granny & The Kid."

The CD will also include a special written introduction by legendary DJ Dr. Demento. (Yes, U-T, we do a Dr. Demento news blurt almost every week when we can, unlike you once in a blue moon when he comes to town).

Other comedy music stars on the CD will include Steven Banks, Carla Ulbrich, Rob Paravonian, Barry & The Bookbinders and the great Luke Ski. Also included will be an exclusive episode of the popular Podcast, The Radio Adventures Of Dr. Floyd. There will be a limited pressing of only 1,000 of these CDs.

Funny musicians For A Serious cause began in the aftermath of the attacks of September 11, 2001. In the weeks that followed there didn't seem to be much room for laughter in this nation. Grant Baciocco, along with fellow funny music maker Chris Mezzolesta, decided that they could use their talents and create a Funny Music Compilation CD to benefit a charity related to the tragic events. The first Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon CD raised close to $2000 for the Twin Towers Orphan Fund and continues to make money for the charity today.

"Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon Vol. 2" will be available through the group's website - http://www.FunnyMusicians.com - and is scheduled for release in mid-November. The first volume of Laughter Is A Powerful Weapon is also available at the website.
