Star 94.1 Replaces My 94.1 (Updated 10:50am, September 19, 2005)
On the first day that Jeff and Jer returned from a brief vacation since leaving
Jack 100.7 last month, the duo announced that the radio station they're now working
for, 94.1, has rebranded itself as Star 94.1.
http://www.star941sandiego.com/ If Tracy Johnson at Jack FM was ever thinking of going back to Star 100.7, it's now too late to go back. On the first hour Jeff and Jer returned live at 6am, the station was still called My 94.1. Then at 7:10am, the duo made a major announcement that the station has changed into Star 94.1. The entire Jeff and Jer Showgram has moved along to the new station. Little Tommy Sablan, Rick Moorten, Randy Hoag, and Laura Cain. This is their fifth radio home since they arrived way back in 1989. They were on Y95 (94.9), then B100, then Q106, then Star 100.7, which changed into Jack 100.7, and now, My 94.1, which changed 70 minutes later to Star 94.1. In the last six months, Jeff and Jer logically worked for four radio handles! Four frequencies. Seven handles. Sixteen years. The two and only Jeff and Jer said on their new home at about 6:04am that what they've been saying about the team was true..."we don't know Jack." They also said that Clear Channel built their entire new studio for the team, looking like the bridge of the [Starship] Enterprise. and most of it was working. Stacy Jo was the first caller of the showgram. They joked about the imporant announcement at 7:10 that Randy was coming out. Here's what some of the announcement sounded like: "We're going to have a little talk with you about you and us about radio and we're going to talk about the past and future. "The past. Most of you already know six months ago that one day, we went to work at 100.7 one morning and our radio station was gone. We were as surprised as you were. We didn't know the change was going to happen the minute it happened as much as you didn't. "In our surprise, we asked the station manager what happened to Star. He said that Star was gone. We said ohhhh-kay. We asked what about Jingle Ball. He said that there's no more Jingle Ball. We said ohhhh-kay. We asked about Becky's House? They said they're not doing that anymore. We said ohhhh-kay. And just like that, we were working for Jack. "So we gave it a try for a while, and it soon became clear to me and you that Jack wasn't for us, so we decided that it was best for us to leave. Those were some of the best people at 100.7 that we ever worked for and worked with, from our boss to everbody down, it was a great eight year ride. They're still our friends and we geniunely wish them our best. "Now, our future. "We think we know the kind of radio station you want to listen to and to be a part of. A radio station that appreciates the fact that you listen to it, values your opinion about what goes on the radio, and if you're going to listen, you should be a part of the station. "When we say the word 'us', we don't just mean as in here, we run the station like a family, and that means you. "We also think that you want to listen to and be part of a radio station that you can depend on. If you are a woman and have been part of an abusive relationship that you can't get out of because you got no place to go, you should be able to depend on your radio station to help get you out. (which is the reason for Becky's House.) "If America has to go to war and your folks are sent to fight for freedom, you should be able to depend on your radio station to help you make sure those people abroad are in your thoughts and prayers. You should expect that from your radio station. "We think you want to listen to a radio station that is fun. You should know that when you tune in to a radio station, you want to hear a friend there talking to you playing the music you want to hear, inviting you to concerts, throwing parties, giving away stuff, and having a really fun time doing it. That's the kind of radio station we think you want to be a part of and that we want to be a part of. "Now, if you remember, we used to work for a radio station that was all about that (on 100.7). For the past six months, we often ran into some of you and ask us if we could bring back Star again and again. "That is a nice thing to say to us and we appreciate it, but this is a business and let's be serious. Do you guys honestly really think that Jeff and I (Jer) could bring back Star? 10 second pregnant pause. "YOU BET WE CAN! TA-DA!" The radio station then played the new jingles for Star 94.1. The station has about 20 of them or so. "Now let me tell you that everything you loved about what was a great radio station My 94.1 continues and I hope we just add that, and we add what was great with My, plus some of the heart that we bring from what was once the old Star 100.7 before that, you still got Duncan and Mel in the afternoon, Cindy Spicer at middays, Jason Kane at night, and the best variety of the 80s, 90s, and now, and all of that continues on the radio station that you loved and you listen to at work or in your car. We hope to just add to that. We consider ourselves to be the soundtrack of San Diego cheerleaders for San Diego. The only thing is changing is that we're being added and the name is changing to... "Jeff and Jer Showgram on Star 94.1." No more Jack Morning Show for Jeff and Jer. I guess Jack doesn't know Jeff and Jer. People were calling in greeting the station, saying that they could get 94.1 much better than the duo's old home on 100.7. 94.1 is a grandfathered 100,000 watt radio station in San Diego, most capable of reaching the hard-to-reach valleys and mesas of El Cajon and Temecula. No word on when the new Star 94.1 bumper stickers will be coming out. 1-866-570-1941 is the new phone number for Jeff and Jer at their new home on 94.1 In short, the old Star 100.7 has been overlayed on 94.1 with the 80's at noon and at 8pm, you know, before Jack. Jeff and Jer are rebuilding the show from the ground up, and they somehow plan to make sure that Jingle Ball, whose proceeds are used to fund Becky's House, lives, which in a sense is ironic because Jingle Ball is a name for an annual holiday concert used on several Clear Channel radio stations in New York and Los Angeles. OK. Now how's My Traffic...whoops. Wrong station.
