THE ROGER HEDGECOCK SHOW
KOGO/AM 600 - 3P - 6P (Pacific)
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA
THE RADIO MAYOR OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
TUESDAY JUNE 21ST , 2005

TODAY ON THE RADIO: ROGER likely to chat up Big Mike as his 6th
installment of the Aguirre chronicles is released today. This tome
basically sez folks who did city pension deals are crooks (well he worded
it more nicely). We keep ears up for more indictments of more SD city
folks. Soon we’ll have to do council meetings at the Iron Bar Hotel. Your
calls, our dime and our free air time. Public school grad or not, homework
assignments must be completed by 3:07pm:

I’VE LEARNED…NEVER DOUBT ROGER!!
(guns at the fair)

FRANKLY I DIDN’T THINK THIS STORY HAD LEGS….until ROGER’S daily rant began
to get the PR flack and the honcho guy from the Fair out of the woodwork
to basically say that off duty cops with guns are clumsy, stupid and
likely to open fire at any moment at the least provocation. What’s more
ROGER peels onion back so we learn that it wasn’t even the Fair Board that
opted to ban the extra (free) security at the fair..it was the honcho guy
and his Munsters PR lady.

Yesterday proved the pudding when a number of cop guys held a news
conference to decry the free extra security ban. Cops finally got clued
that they were being dissed big time as dangerous bumbling idiots unworthy
of entrance to the cow contests and pig buying and free eyeglass cleaning
booths.

Arrogance is the word that best applies. Once a bureaucrat makes a
decision…wrong or not, there ain’t no way there is gonna be a change of
mind. Fair board folks are sissies. It’d take them a couple minutes at a
special meeting (they get extra for these meetings, right?) to nix the ban
and in fact offer free admission to off duty peace officers and their
families to attend the fair. EVERY YEAR!! Not a bad tribute to folks who
serve and protect anyway. Plus Fair gets a whole bunch of extra FREE
SECURITY!! Gummint can’t stand free or volunteer!!

ROGER STARTS PRAIRIE FIRE WITH RANTS ON NO GUN POLICY AT FAIR…TOOK A WHILE
BUT..

MUTTERINGS

**DUKE-STIR…..we don’t do real estate and so we can’t context the
allegations about Duke selling his Del Mar house and then buying up big
time in Rancho Santa Fe in connection with a defense contractor. But one
of ROGER’S listeners had a perspective that we thought was interesting.
Ponder please and then discuss amongst yourownselves:

The L.A. Times reports the size of the Cunningham house as 3826 square feet.
At the original listing price this works out to $435 square foot.

The ultimate selling price of $975,000 comes to $254 square foot which is
ridiculous.
I took a quick look at the present listings and they range from $464 foot
to over a thousand.
You want to sell your house for $254 a foot? Chances are you would find
everybody in San Diego willing to buy it.

My home in Mt. Helix would probably list at $347 and this is not Del Mar
and certainly not near the ocean.

Go to the web and do your own research.

If there is dirt in the game it is between the Defense Contractor and the
ultimate buyer who got a major league gift, and a person that nobody is
willing to name.

Just a ponder!!

**SAVE OUR CROSS…I need to be hearing more campaigning to Save Our Cross.
I’m hearing a lot about a lot of candidates for Mayor of SD city but not
enough about getting the YES vote on our Cross. Cross fingers (sorry)
because come next Monday we may get a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the 10
Commandments case. A win in this matter could make atheist complaints
about Our Cross moot?

Frankly I don’t give a hoot who your Mayor ends up being. I don’t have a
dog in that fight but I’m chained to the Cross and hoping it don’t come to
that.

I’m hearing a whole lot about what candidate will lead a pride parade (or
not) and not enough about who will join us on the Cross Chain Gang.

**WHO WAS THAT GUY looking for an honest person. Diogenes or some fool
name like that? Guess he ain’t spending much time around San Diego city
these days. We got pension board members indicted and in court saying that
taking bribes (hyped benefits) for votes ain’t a crime. We got a Sheriff
who sez that his buds didn’t think there was anything wrong with a deal
where they had employees write checks to Bill and then as they handed over
the checks get cash back in return. (heck that don’t sound criminal, huh?)
This even before we get back to council folks making a quorum at the local
courthouse (doesn’t that violate the Brown Act?) for selling strip club
votes to Vegas mobsters.

The more we ponder out here in east county the more we figure you folks
need Our Cross real bad…perhaps we should convene council meetings atop
the Mount from now on. Somebody needs to be looking over your shoulders.

BIG MIKE: SOME PENSION BOARD MEMBERS ARE CROOKS…THE SIXTH INSTALLMENT OF
THE AGUIRRE CHRONICLES TO BE RELEASED TODAY

KOLENDER SEZ THE GUY DIDN’T THINK HE WAS DOING ANYTHING WRONG…READ
THIS…CHECKS FOR CASH…HEY THAT CAN’T BE WRONG, RIGHT. AND BILL WEARS FOUR
STARS…YEEECH

**I’M TRYING TO BE REAL PATIENT with the folks in the tin hats but to no
avail. In the email this morning comes the following:

I see from the email that you voted yes on vector control. This is
already budgeted expense and they have been successfully taking care of
this problem for years.

You must look past the PR and see that they are trying to raise
funds by picking a subject that may scare the "masses". Vote no and send
a signal that they are not to tax on items already been budgeted!

It’s tiresome!! We have a vector control district. That district is funded
by a separate fee on our property tax. That fee has gone down most of the
time in recent years, before we got invaded by this Nile thing and the rat
virus thing. The vector loot don’t come outta general fund.

Now that health folks are getting a worry about real cases of folks
hereabouts getting the bird and rat sickness and the prospects of us
making an early “transition,” the plan is to gear up and combat the
emerging diseases before we un-emerge.

Stay with me now. So the health (vector) folks take their case to the
board of supervisors. The board (all five) decided that “yep, we could get
kilt, and why don’t we ask the voters to decide whether to increase the
vector fee so we can gear up and spray and do all sorts of other stuff to
kill rats and stop birds from falling outta the sky and keep all us all
from dropping dead.”

So we get a vote. (law we passed sez they can’t hike the fee without our
permission) I vote YES. I’m too close to transition time as it is and
don’t want to urge that process along. For nine bucks I figure that’s a
fair price (even with my current wife…that’s a joke folks).

I usta have a tin hat but I kept getting struck by lightening so I don’t
wear it anymore. And I try to avoid standing near folks wearing one. Seems
they are everywhere these days.

Lesson concluded. Discuss!!
