More candidates likely today?…Robert Ming, author of CA Voter I.D. act visits. Latest on vector control vote (boss finally got his ballot). Portions of today’s show will be broadcast in Spanish. Your calls (in either language) and your agenda. We come to the broadcast informed so homework is mandatory. http://www.rogerhedgecock.com/rogersnews5-9-05.html HOW DARE THEY!! (allow me to vote) UP IN ARMS is like the only expression to use as folks in San Diego County begin to get mail ballots that allow them the right to vote on whether to okay or nix a hike in the county vector control program fee. Outraged. Angry. Hostile and near deranged. Kinda cute actually!! I’m listening to ROGER’S show yesterday as one call after another comes in from folks who are befuddled, confused, face foamed and ready to bite into head of a live chicken. They get a ballot in the mail. The gummint is asking them to approve a fee hike - or not - and it’s like some law about house to house searches has just been approved by County Board of Supervisors. I don’t make things better by suggesting in the Team Hedgecock suite of executive talk show host offices that I am likely to vote yes on the fee hike. Which for me works out to about 9-bucks a year. Macarena is a solid no vote. ROGER is very suspicious. Angela is kinda being smart and staying out of the line of fire. ROGER actually asks me to defend my position on the radio, which I gladly do, and that gets the audience even more livid. “Limousine Liberal,” is my new name. I may contest the latter but I do have a 1988 Cadillac 4-door that is almost a limo. Now I’m the befuddled one!! The ballot is required by a proposition measure that we voted yes on back in 1996 (56.4% approval). We didn’t like the idea of gummint imposing fees whenever and wherever they wanted so we forced gummint to give us a vote when they wanted to do the hike. We made it the law. Now comes the county that wants to do a hike for the vector control program, they have to give us a voice…AND WE’RE LIVID? Huh? Compute that for me, please. See folks vote and forget. On to the next installment of American Idol or the next witness in the Michael Jackson case. Burp. So first the ballot confuses us. Then making us vote angers us. And then it gets to the tinfoil hat stage about who will count the votes, the ballot isn’t secret (Prop 218 didn’t require secrecy …hello) and the gumming will know how I voted and likely come and get my children, and the money will be used to make kool aid. Serious, those were the kind of calls we got yesterday. Yikes. As for my vote. I do have nine dollars. I just got some kinda rebate from an insurance company in the amount of 8-dollars. I’ll kick in the extra buck and I’m home free. I do worry about West Nile and Hantavirus. Here in Dehesa Valley we have critters like mice and deer and a lot of birds. We also have a lot of horses and livestock that are particularly vulnerable. And I keep reading news about these diseases jumping to humans…and I kinda figure for 9-bucks having a little control of my vector ain’t a real bad thing. Oh, but we already gave the county money to control the vector. Yea, but that was before West Nile raced across the nation from the northeast and showed up here. And before the Hanta stuff started getting into human beings. I’m a yes vote on the vector fee. I’m glad I voted for Prop 218. I’m glad I get a choice about the fee and yes I sometimes wear a tinfoil hat around the property here in the valley, but only because it allows me to get cable TV no matter where I’m at on the acres - the shows come directly into my head. Burp X 2 I kinda pity the folks who fear the ballot. They want to vote no, but if they vote no the gummint will come and get them. If they don’t vote they risk the fee. The way I see it the only safe way is to vote yes. That way the gummint won’t bother your kids or do the house to house searches and maybe they’ll even keep you safe from disease. Oh and one lady in the email this morning is upset because she almost threw her ballot away. It looked like junk mail. (another reason we should have I.Q. tests before we allow folks to vote on anything). And another guy emailed upset about the cost of the vote. Wonder how he voted on Prop 218 back in ‘96. (life is full of fine print folks). MUTTERINGS **SAVE OUR CROSS…the lawyer for atheist guy has filed something in federal court trying to deny our petition drive and a San Diego City Council re-vote on deeding Mt. Soledad National Memorial to the U.S. Parks Department. Council set to re-vote on May 17th. City charter allows our petition drive. It is legal. But McElroy and Paulson will stop at nothing. Destroying Our Cross is their lives work. But we’ve been there and done that. We’ll not be deterred. Courts in CA have ruled against Our Cross for years. It still stands. And it shall. On May 11th, plans still call for our Mt. Soledad Committee to travel to D.C. with Bill Kellogg, President of the Mt. Soledad Association to meet personally with the head of the U.S. Parks Department to discuss the turn-over to the feds. Our hope is to convince Bill that the transition will actually enhance the war memorial. Fingers are crossed that Bill is open to reason. Meanwhile listen up today as ROGER details the latest plot against Our Cross. Just amazing!! **HOLD THEIR FEET TO THE FIRE XI …MORE KUDOS!! Two San Diego Assemblymen traveled with ROGER to D.C. April 23 - 28th. Mark Wyland and Jay LaSuer. Mark has been hot on the illegal immigration issue and protecting our borders. Jay paid the way to D.C. for Terri March, whose husband (an LA County Sheriff Deputy) was gunned down in cold blood by an illegal who fled to Mexico and Mexico refused to return him to the USA to face justice. Jay stayed with us the entire trip and took Terri over to the U.S. State Department on April 27th to discuss diplomatic efforts to have the killer returned. Some progress from those talks. Fingers crossed. Terri also joined us at our celebration dinner as Jay’s guest. Mark visited the hill with ROGER to help us press our case for Secure Borders. We had hoped that more local lawmakers would join us given the cost and danger of living near the border battle front in San Diego. But for these two lawmakers talk isn’t just warm air. They acted instead of issuing another press release or formal letter bitching about the lack of homeland security. Our kinda folks. THANKS!! **AND SINCE I’VE GOT A DENTIST meeting (yeeech) tomorrow morning let me plug another thank you into this flash. Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo and syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin. Tom gave the key note speech at our celebration dinner. His wisdom on the secure border issue is profound and his immigration caucus is gaining majority respect in the House and even folks in the House of Lords are beginning to pay attention to the suicide implications of illegal immigration. Michelle agreed to “meet and greet,” our citizen-lobbyists. What a hit she was. Everybody wanted a picture with her. We have posted many of those on ROGER’S website. On the main page. Click into the HTFTTF page. Both folks lead very busy lives and likely had other things to do than have dinner with us plain ole worker bee American Citizens. Both decided that we were a PRIORITY!! We are grateful. THANKS. **A STORY I LIKED TODAY: AIRPORT GROUP FAVORS EXPANDING LINDBERGH…thank you!! http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20050510-9999-1m10airport.html **HOMEFRONT SAN DIEGO - This audiences continuing commitment to the men and women in combat against Islamic killers.
