(live show at Sd City Hall Concourse) SAVE OUR CROSS live show on Thursday April 7th, from 3p - 6p at the Concourse (202 C Street) as we do a news conference at 3pm and then turn in some 100-thousand Save Our Cross petitions at 4pm. We are inviting all of the volunteers, petition signers and paid petition gatherers to join us to celebrate a remarkable success. We had less than 30 days (by the time Michael Shelby - aka Ny Myke - got his legal papers submitted to the city clerk) to garner 33,600 petition signatures to ask one of five members of SD City Council to “Reverse The Vote,” and turn Mt. Soledad and our Cross over to the federal government. That was a cinch. We have in hand close to 100-thousand or more signatures. Our goal now is to convince council to vote again and this time opt to turn the Cross and War memorial over to the federal government for their administration. Will the five members of council who refused that option be defiant or will they hear the voice of the people of the city of San Diego? Join us on Thursday as we answer that question. Hopefully our battle to Save Our Cross will be over. But we remain committed to taking the matter to a public vote (at a cost of some 2-million dollars to the city) if necessary. JOIN US THURSDAY….we’ll have free crosses and free Save Our Cross bumper stickers. And we’ll celebrate the hard work done by thousands of San Diego citizens who literally did the near impossible. WHY DO THEY CALL IT SMUGGLERS GULCH? Last week Wisconsin Congressman James Sensenbrenner came to San Diego and held a news conference down in IB at a stretch of the border where our fence is not yet complete. Not complete because environmentalists say a fence will destroy habitat. (The habitat there has to be able to live in raw sewage from Mexico). Jim’s federal legislation HR 418 (passed the House and now awaits action in the Senate) would waive environmental restrictions and get this portion of the fence built…among other things. Flash forward to Sunday as Border Patrol agents snag a guy tied to an El Salvador killer gang. Guess where the killer guy was crossing? Yep, thru the open section at Smugglers Gulch. Right where the good Congressman held his news conference. Just another farm guy from Mexico looking for a lettuce field….huh? WIFE CALLED SBC our local phone company yesterday. We had one phone line with a problem. Voice at the other end was speaking Spanish. Noreen hadn’t pressed #1 for Spanish, it just came up Spanish. Noreen presses buttons on our phone and somehow gets connected to SBC in Connecticut. The person there does speak English and sez “this has been happening a lot.” Just a glitch of some kind right? Or SBC is ahead of the curve. You and I are gonna have to speak Spanish in a few months so the phone company is just getting prepared. Has anybody seen America? It seems to be missing!! OH AND I LOVE THE LATEST HOMELAND SECURITY trick. We can’t (won’t) stop terrorists, illegals, drug smugglers and human smugglers from crossing our border at whim, but now the crazed folks at DHS plan to force you and I to show a passport to get back into America should we wander (why?) into Mexico or Canada. We’ll be the target of our homeland security effort, not the terrorists. Hell if this keeps up we’ll have to sneak back into our own country just like the terrorists. BURP!! Well a very good bud of ours is a U.S. Border Patrol Agent (we have a lot of such buds) and he’s fed up to his hairline. Bush admin won’t let him do his job along the border so he’s enlisted in a state (can’t say which one) national guard. The Guard realizes how valuable this dude is so he’s bound in June for either Iraq or Afghanistan (where we treat border security seriously…really). We say either because there are apparently two colonels fighting over him. Both want our border patrol agent in their command. Finally our good friend will get to defend a border…BUT IT WON’T BE OURS!! For you public school grads…suicide is spelt S-U-I-C-I-D-E THE MINUTEMEN IN ARIZONA ARE PATRIOTS!! Left media and open border folks and Mexican gummint folks say they are vigilantes. Guess what? Folks in a CNN (left wing for sure) poll agree with the job the Minutemen have been forced to do because the Bush group won’t secure our borders. April 23-28th to citizen-lobby for a secure border, HR 418 and No Amnesty.
