The Top 5 Artists from the FM 94/9 Survey were THE CURE, THE CLASH, RADIOHEAD, THE PIXIES, and NIRVANA. The Bottom 5 Artists were DAVE MATTHEWS, JACKSON, 311, BLINK 182, and LINKIN PARK.

Nearly 3300 people took the survey, which took place between August 4 to August 15

Favorite station: as biased as can be considering that it was conducting the poll, FM 94/9 with 87.5 percent. I know. When I used to run the evalutrons, my station dfsxradio.com came out on top. Second place? 91X with 3.2 percent, followed by Rock 105.3 with 1.8 percent, and 7.5 percent for all others combined.

Annoying aspects of morning shows: people may vote for more than one choice. 79 percent said too many commercials. 66 percent said not enough music. 64 percent said too much talk. The rest ranked Self Absorbed Personalities, Silly Games, Talk About Things I Don't Care About, and Stupid Stunts in the 50 percent range. Only 24 percent complained about vulgarity and crudeness.

The top thing to do in San Diego: live music with 77 percent. Down in second is Balboa Park with 47 percent, followed by Gaslamp at 43 percent, and Padres baseball at 42 percent. Also charting were PB, Museums, Camping, San Diego Zoo, Hillcrest and Old Town.

81.2 percent will definitely vote in the fall election.

Top 10 station attributes: Tied for first with 89 percent: DJs have a choice in what they play, and doesn't play the same songs over and over. 87 percent want a station to surprise the listener with songs they haven't heard in a while. 86 percent want more than just the hit singles from an album. 83 percent want fewer commericals and knoledgable and informative DJs. 82 percent want a station to take risks by discovering and playing new music. Also rating high in the 70 percent range were playing a lot of songs in a row, taking input from listeners and playing requests, and not talking over the beginnings and ends of songs. This is all the stuff dfsxradio.com does by the way, folks. Wish Dr. Demento and Clear Channel would do the same more often.

Top San Diego radio features: Anya's Desert Island Discs with 4.17 (on a scale from 1-5), followed by Halloran's Dog Dare with 4.15, then the Local 94/9 with 4.04, FTP with 3.98, and a tie for fifth: Resurrection Sunday on 91X and Swami with 3.8.

Who knows how poorly Ryan Seacrest's top 40 show did? His show American Top 40, heard on Channel 933, got a 1.48, good for last place! Loveline on 91X with 2.56, Reggae Makosa on 91X with 2.67, Mandatory Marley on 91X with 3.31, and Loudspeaker on 91X with 3.47. Again, this was conducted by 94/9, not a Clear Channel radio station, in which the listeners of 94/9 show a bias against 91X with this survey as you can tell.

Top five artists: The Cure, The Clash, The Pixies, Radiohead, and Nirvana.

Followed by Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Morrissey/The Smiths, Depeche Mode, U2, The Police, Foo Fighters, Beck, Jane's Addiction, and Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Other acts: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, David Bowie, The White Stripes, Rage Against The Machine, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails, Social Distortion, Pearl Jam, and Beastie Boys.

The Bottom Five Artists: Linkin Park with a 2.66, followed upwards by Blink 182 with 3.14, then 311, Jack Johnson, and Dave Matthews.

Top Five Local Bands: Pinback, Rocket From The Crypt, Rugburns, Louis XIV, and Scarlet Symphony.

79 percent are willing to take more surveys in the future.

Respondent Age Groups: under 20: 14 percent. 21-29: 46 percent. 30-39: 30 percent. 40-49: 9 percent.

94/9 thanks everyone who took the survey. With your help, the station will continue to work to be part of the solution rather than the problem with San Diego Radio.
