While the RIAA, STREAMCAST NETWORKS, and GROKSTER argued in a Federal appeals court on TUESDAY over GROKSTER and MORPHEUS' file-swapping software, STREAMCAST announced a new version of MORPHEUS that connects to all major file-sharing networks. The more powerful software was released while entertainment industry attorneys argued that the BETAMAX case allowing end users to copy and share movies for personal use does not apply to Internet file-swapping because of several differences between the technologies, and argued that a separate NAPSTER case should apply, although NAPSTER and the services presently in court operate differently.

Bryan Schock resigned from KGB/San Diego. 'Bout time! He decimated 91X when he joined in 1997. The Flash in 1997 was also unlistenable and 91X deservedly knocked that station off the air, but neither 91X nor The Flash ever improved and kept on playing unlistenable alternative crap that had no melody or beat.

CLEAR CHANNEL Country KUSS/SAN DIEGO morning duo TONY & KRIS have put together a custom mix of JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY's new single "Letters From Home" to support their OPERATION: VALENTINE campaign where they are asking listeners to create handmade VALENTINES cards that will be shipped to our troops overseas. Rick Dees Major Announcement? (Feb 4, 2004!)

The "life changing" event for Rick Dees is all 8 L.A. Clear Channel stations moving into the same building?

Really? I was looking forward for Eric "Smooth-E" Schwartz to do a hop hop cover to his 27 year old song "Disco Duck."

Was Rick Dees listening to DFSX Radio? The station played both parts of his "Duck" song during the "Vintage Dementia" pilot.

All eyes were on Los Angeles this morning, as the longtime KIIS-FM wake-up host made a highly touted "life-changing announcement" that many believed would address his future at the station. As numerous Los Angeles TV stations camped out in front of KIIS's studios, Dees told listeners at 6:30am that the big news involved the relocation of all 8 Clear Channel/L.A. stations to one office building, set to occur next week. However, CC/L.A. Market Manager Roy Laughlin later made a cryptic on-air statement that alluded to ongoing contract negotiations between Dees and Clear Channel. Rumors still abound that Clear Channel may still be preparing to replace Dees with Ryan Seacrest — perhaps as soon as next month.

The new building location? THE PINNACLE BUILDING at 3400 W. Olive Ave. Suite 550, in BURBANK, CA 91505 on FEBRUARY 11th.

Los Angeles Radio Wires (Feb 3, 2004!)

Gary Lycan - Orange County Register
Is Rick Dees leading us on? Is he prepared to step down as the KIIS/102.7 FM morning man? (We seriously doubt it.) Whatever, he told listeners he has a life-changing announcement to make Wednesday morning. Dees' fill-in is Ryan Seacrest + While KNX/1070 AM shifts to more in-depth news reports, news KFWB/980 AM is slowly changing, too, again under the direction of David G. Hall + George Putnam passed on an offer to do a weekend show on KRLA/870 AM. He's holding out for a weekday program.
