Roger Hedgecock Flashfax Excerpt 11-23-03!Note: This was sent Monday afternoon while our offices were closed.FRIDAY IN CREST…TODAY IN JULIAN (ROGER commits listeners to recovery) NOBODY COVERED THE INSIDER DETAILS of the Firestorm of 2003 like ROGER HEDGECOCK...the governmental criminal negligence and bickering that led to the total and absolute destruction of 300,000 acres of habitat, the loss of 3000 homes and…the worst…the death of a dozen of our friends, neighbors and loved ones. Reference previous Flashfaxes for those gut ripping reports…..but while ROGER continues to detail the terror brought upon us by our paid employees….we also turn our attention to helping our neighbors rebuild lives and property. ON FRIDAY ROGER took his broadcast to the small unincorporated community of Crest, California…several hundred homes gone. Thousands of lives disrupted…we need to be better at defining disruption…their homes are gone. Some now live in trailers and huddle together at night for warmth in the increasingly cold temperatures of very late fall. They fled their homes as the unrestrained fires assaulted the hillsides consuming nearly at random. Clothing on their backs, perhaps a few precious or easy to grab items..they fled for their lives. They have their lives…but little more. ROGER’S effort over the coming weeks, and perhaps months, will be to bring this audience (this most remarkable audience) together to help our neighbors across this very special county…re-establish lives, bring comfort, warmth, Thanksgiving and Christmas….and new homes…have you not in these past days remarked (perhaps silently) “There But For The Grace Of God“… OUR SHOW ON FRIDAY WAS AWESOME….for the spirit of the fire victims, the love and outreach of church and community members. ROGER helped raise money and donations…so much outpouring of assistance that we taxed the transport system of Shadow Mountain Community Church on both Friday during and after the show and over the weekend. NOW ROGER IS BOUND FOR JULIAN…a town that seems to draw fire like a magnet and survive again and again against all odds. “Save Julian” became a national cry on October 28th and 29th. And once more Julian was saved..but 400 or more homes were lost around this historic gold mining town. Main Street Julian is not all that Julian comprises….outlying communities were literally obliterated. Remain no more. Again the tale of families with little shelter, food, clothing…and many uninsured who have so little hope to rejoin their previous lives. TODAY WE ASK YOU TO HELP….a lot of stuff is needed and ROGER will tell us what…but as much this town needs your business. So many jobs here are tied to tourism and the special commerce that goes on at bed & breakfasts, pie shops, antique hide-a-ways. As he did after the Pines Fire ROGER returns to report live and on the radio: JULIAN IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS. Thanks for your help in Crest. Advance thanks for what we know you will do today for Julian…and get ready to stand with us in days to come as ROGER takes his KOGO radio show to other communities devastated by the government debacle of Firestorm 2003. IF ALL GOES WELL…ROGER will continue his live broadcasts from the scene of various major fire victim communities. We’ve been asked to travel to Valley Center. We may need to visit Scripps Ranch and other places to lend the assistance of our Community Forum. Watch this space, please. THEN TOMORROW…WE’RE AFTER YOU AGAIN…does it never end? Nope!! On Tuesday ROGER is live at the San Diego Chargers Blood Drive at the Town and Country Convention Center in Mission Valley. A day long annual holiday drive to fill the local blood bank with supplies to save lives during the Thanksgiving and Christmas period. If you’ve attended this event you already know that it’s a full day of entertainment, free food, celebrity appearances and ROGER live on the radio from 3p - 6p. We need your blood. We’ve already taken most of your money, your wardrobe etc for fire victims and our Warrior families…now we’re asking for your blood. Is there another community in America like this one? Nope!!
