Go Loco Gets New Time Slot (11-2-2003)First, 91X fires the first salvo in counter local music wars by finally moving its longtime local music show "Loudspeaker" to Sundays from 6-8pm, a vast improvement from the graveyard shift Tuesday morning MID-2am. Al Guerra is the new host. The longtime "Reggae Mekkossa" follows on 91X from 8-10pm.After that, 94/9 gets a new host to replace the departing Guerra for "The Local 94.9" Sundays 8-10pm. Anya Marina is the new host. It will follow Halloran's "FTP" show, which airs 7-8pm. Now, Premium 92.1 is doing the unthinkable...a local music show starting at, not Midnight, not 8pm, not 6pm, not 5pm, but FOUR IN THE AFTERNOON! Yes, instead of the first four hours of "Go Loco" airing opposite 91X's, then 94/9's local music shows, only the last four hours of it will air opposite them. Here's the deal. Tazy Phillipz will be on for six hours, hosting two music shows on 92.1. First, he hosts "Go Loco" (w/ co-host Brennan) featuring local music of San Diego for four hours from 4-8pm. THEN...Tazy sticks around from 8-10pm when he hosts "SP Radio One" featuring NEW & INDY MUSIC * LIVE BANDS * 24+ GENRES!!! This sure beats The WB Super Sunday. This is the 92.1 Super Sunday. No word whether 92.1 will add a new program from 10-MID. All this, while it airs opposite the only night of the week I watch prime-time television since Buffy and Sabrina quit TV: Fox-TV, where you can watch "King of the Hill", "The Simpsons", "Malcolm in the Middle", and "Arrested Development" premiering with new episodes from 7-10pm. Got a VCR to tape them though. But opposite all this is a longtime favorite of mine that hasn't aired in San Diego for over 2,500 days: The Dr. Demento Show (which in part supplies most of the newer album relases on my mother website davesfunstuff.com). You can catch it on two radio stations on the Internet like I have been doing since March of 1997. Please check http://www.davesfunstuff.com/0430.htm for Dr. Demento times on the Internet Demento would be a vast improvement to the overly serene lineup at KPRI 102.1. Dementia is a better idea of music without boundaries...songs that dare to be funny, and with this worst fire in San Diego County history that hasn't been seen since The Brady Bunch wasn't even in reruns yet, comedy music is sorely needed on local radio. Here's the two press releases for your reading pleasure. A FEW THINGS FIRST: *Fires affecting So.
