See http://www.allcomedyradio.com for more! Former New Northwest and New Century radio exec Michael O'Shea today announced the creation of Hollywood-based All Comedy Radio (ACR). He heads a group of well known entertainment and media executives in the development of the new format and syndicated radio network. All Comedy Radio will offer a mix of exclusive comedy programming in short form, specific day parts or 24/7 presentation to radio stations in all size markets. Launch is set for July, 2003. All Comedy Radio has, for the first time, merged professional comedy with AM and FM radio in a compelling, entertaining and funny new full-format presentation. The programming utilizes standup routines from superstar comedians and up-and-coming touring comics, as well as exclusive interview segments from ACR's Hollywood studios. News parodies, parody songs and morning show-type radio comedy rounds out the topical and relevant programming. Audio demos are available at: http://www.allcomedyradio.com. The American radio dial is crowded with programming formats and splinter formats of virtually every type and style. Music? There's mainstream and hybrid mixes of every imaginable variety. Even spoken word formats have sub-divided. There's news and there's talk, and there's news/talk. There's hot talk and there's conservative talk. But up until this point there has not been a format exclusively dedicated to the much desired fun and funny. That is about to change. For four years the founders of All Comedy Radio have been stealth-like in building content, acquiring broadcast rights, researching and hyper-focusing the newest format in radio. And could there ever be a more appropriate time? Very soon, there will be a laugh button on your radio tuned to superstar standup, interviews with celebrities, parody news, funny phone calls and many topical comedy surprises. As we say... It's all about fun. It's all about funny. It's all about Comedy Radio.. And it's about time! All Comedy Radio is a unique blend of: Exclusive celebrity and "newbie" stand-up, Exclusive "Comedy Island" in-studio interview sessions, Exclusive topical radio comedy from our 100+ on-air personality network, Exclusive team of comedians and comedy jocks (CJ's) host from our Hollywood studios, and hte Target Audience: 25-54.

Former New Northwest and New Century radio exec Michael O'Shea today announced the creation of Hollywood-based All Comedy Radio (ACR). He heads a group of well known entertainment and media executives in the development of the new format and syndicated radio network. I asked him via e-mail a few questions about his new future operation. CAL: I just read about your new All Comedy Radio starting up and I say it's about time for this new diverse format to become a reality. I have a few questions to ask. Will there be blocks of comedy music played for hours in some dayparts such as weekends? MOS: Thanks for your note. I'll address some of your questions. Comedy and parody music will be a big part of our programming. We'll feature at least one parody song each 20 min segment of programming. As fas as a weekend comedy music special...great idea. We'll talk about it. CAL: I know Canada is hospitable ground for comedy on the radio such as Madly Off in All Directions and the Royal Canadian Air Farce. Will some of these radio shows be on the ACR network? MOS: Canadian comedy? We'll look into it. We'll be attanding teh Montreal Comedy Fest in July and get in touch with the Canada comy groups up there. CAL: Is ACR going to be soliticing unreleased song parodies like Dr. Demento does on his syndicated show? MOS: Soliciting on air? Youy bet. For comedy songs, parody anything, bits and jokes. Our audience will find ACR very interactive. CAL: And finally, will the stream be offered to people on the Internet for those who can't receive ACR on a local radio station and if so, will there be a reasonable subscription fee to help support ACR? MOS: To stream? We're taking that under discussion now. Our primary focus will be to provide terestrial radio stations (AMs and FMs) compelling and innovative programming, but in those areas where it is not available certainly the internet is a viable distribution method. Thanks for your interest and questions. This is D.T. Well, let's hope that San Diego becomes a market for ACR in the very near future. Perhaps AM 950 or FM 99.7 could be perfect fits for this format. Maybe KSDO could go all comedy and reconsider its change to a format such as Religious in another language that would appeal to far fewer listeners than its current shared KOGO format did in the last four years. |
