In the case of Clear Channel San Diego, this means you, Dave Rickards, we know you think it's a joke,
but people do listen to Internet radio, they (or you since you have a lot of money)
must include $1,000 in U.S. funds to the above address in order
for a certain morning show employee to use them.
The April survey seemed to return to normal listening habits
but some people changed habits as to what stations to listen to.
More people listened to Internet radio, and, surprise, Los Angeles radio,
and fewer listened to San Diego radio, except for a few stations.
The most popular daypart, Mornings, had Jeff and Jer on Star 100.7 leading the pack.
Afternoons had KIFM 98.1 leading the way, I guess to get people to relax after a stressful day
in the outland called San Diego, where everybody works and nobody lives.
Evenings should have baseball among the popular programming choices, but people preferred to listen
to Internet radio or watch TV.
And as usual, stations run by Clear Channel are just not getting the ratings. Clear Channel just
can't do radio right.
The most popular radio station was a complete surprise! My own DFSX radio was #1 in the survey!
Thanks, readers. You have great taste. Also, some stations have been removed from the ballot due
to constant low scoring such as KGB and Bob for those who don't participate in the survey.
The following stations are being rated for the first time in April 2003:
. ( I ) LuxuriaMusic.com - jazz, lounge, standards, and more
. (B/I) 97.7 WOXY "97X", Oxford, OH - alt rock
The following stations were nominated by petition on another website, but if you want to rate these, at least
50 percent of the reporting evalutron members (about 254) must also fill out the petition to add it to the survey.
Deadline is May 31, 2003.
. ( B ) KROQ 106.7, Los Angeles - alternative rock.
The following stations are eligible for being rated beginning in May 2003:
. ( I ) GrooveRadio.com - veteran underground dance station just returned to streaming in May 2003.
. ( I ) WorldTalkRadio.com, San Diego - talk programming.
. ( I ) SDTalk, San Diego - talk programming
With these changes, here's how the ballot stacked up for the month of April 2003.
Registered voters have been sending in what stations they listened to each day via e-mail and registration
number, and as for Arbitron, their idea of restrictive voting is outdated and useless for today's music listening
base.
