Final "Sabrina" Update 4-24-2003In case you missed last night's series finale of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" on WB...because you watched Michael Jackson's films, or Friends (taped it, ok, Jennifer Aniston is on the April 26 issue of TV Guide, which is also the date of my birthday), and Whose Line Is It Anyway was pre-empted by ABC, who can't decide whether to keep a show as scheduled in TV Guide or not, well, Sabrina didn't marry Aaron, but to make a long story short, it was because they weren't soulmates, but in the end, Harvey showed up (thanks to cousin Amanda's influence) at 12:36pm, exactly the time he and Sabrina first met, and they rode off (not married) in his motorcycle. By the way...the two pieces of the crystal puzzle fit this time. Draw your own conclusions. Here's looking forward to a reunion special some years down the road. The story lines were left open for another season, but since there will be no season eight, then you'll have to debate the future of the characters.Speaking of reunion specials, one for a popular 1990's series is coming up in two weeks. Hint: one of the guest stars was in the first season of "Sabrina", and is known mostly for its zip code. "Sabrina" and "Touched" End This Weekend 4-24-03Tonight (4/24)! The last two original episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch air at 8pm on WB 5/69. Who will Sabs marry? Aaron? Harvey? Or will it all be a seven-year dream that was played out inside Clarissa's head all this time? The party starts tonight. And will Gloria ever come out of that wallflower mode and evolve into a babilicious angel on the series finale of Touched by an Angel (4/26, my birthday, and 4/27)? Next month...another uber babe calls it quits as Buffy the Vampire Slayer slays for the last time. The future of HDTV never looked so dim. I might just let the TV turn into a paper weight in 2007 when the analog signals are turned off. Great pictures, 1000 channels, but nothing to watch anymore. Time to take up car engine refurbishing or something like it. From insideradio.com... # "Salem's (the broadcasting company, not Sabrina's cat!) taking a $1.3 million write-off because of tower problems in San Diego. It says county supervisors won't let Salem move KCBQ (1170) to Lakeside -- and it's pre-announcing the bad news now. Salem reports its first quarter results on May 5. Speaking of Salem, who's also the name of cat on "Sabrina," Nick Bakay, still has his day job and can be found on ESPN doing editorials and commentaries. Visit him at http://www.nickbakay.com/.
Newswires: "Sabrina" Casts Her Last TV Spell on 4-24-03!"Sabrina" Gets Sent Off In SatinLittle Sabrina is finally all grown up "Sabrina" Makes Her Show Disappear From Prime Time (April 24, 2003)"Sabrina, the Teenage Witch", which (no pun intended) is probably the last popular prime time broadcast network sitcom produced for all ages, is calling it a series after seven years of casting spells to its TV audience since 1996.Melissa Joan Hart, star and producer of the show, who just turned 27 on April 18, is ending her series after seven years (four on ABC, three on the WB) on April 24th with two episodes to kick off the May sweeps ratings weeks. The now seventeen-teen year-old actress, whose character is a witch that seems to not have aged that much in the seven years, saw several signs that its time to call it quits. Whenever a network pushes back a veteran show from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Sabrina moved to Friday 8:30 p.m. last fall), you know the ratings are beginning to dwindle. When the show went to Thursdays, a periennal last place (not counting PAX) opposite Survivor with Jeff Probst, Friends, reruns of Whose Line Is It Anyway, WWF Smackdown, and Fox specials, you know that the WB has very much given up on the series and its time to quit the Woe Be network by wrapping up the series. The end of the Millenium TV era (Sep 1996-May 2003) is also the end of long running series "Touched By An Angel" on April 26 (my birthday, yup, I get Valerie Bertinelli on TV on my b-day for the third time, more on April 26 later) and April 27 (the fourth monthly Weird Al Day), "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "Dawson's Creek" (a Gen Y serial who spent the first three seasons entirely opposite a Gen X serial "Beverly Hills 90210") at later dates. PRESS RELEASE: SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH - ONE-HOUR SERIES FINALE -- "WHAT A WITCH WANTS" & "SOUL MATES" - THURSDAY, APRIL 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) -- Sabrina (Melissa Joan Hart), Roxie (Soleil Moon Frye) and Morgan (Elisa Donovan) take a cruise to Bermuda for Sabrina's bachelorette party, but Sabrina's magic doesn't work in the Bermuda Triangle and the girls must use their wits to survive a shipwreck and a hurricane. Once back in Boston, Sabrina wakes up on the morning of her wedding with cold feet. She hopes that a little magic and words of wisdom from her mom (guest star Alley Mills) and Aunt Hilda (guest star Caroline Rhea) will help her make the biggest decision of her life. |
