Gorillaz leads Brit Award nominations

Cartoon band Gorillaz (sort of like the Archies I guess) has been nominated for six Brit Awards -- the U.K.'s equivalent of the Grammys -- including best group, album and single for its hit ``Clint Eastwood.''

In with four nominations in the 14 categories are songstress Dido, pop phenom Robbie Williams and pop diva Kylie Minogue. Up for three are guitar group Travis, R&B singer Craig David and garage band So Solid Crew. Leading in the international categories are New York indie rockers the Strokes, up for three Brits, including group and album.

The awards will be presented Feb. 20 at Earl's Court Arena in London. Traditionally, the event culminates in a performance from a veteran act honored with the outstand-ing contribution to music award -- this time out, Sting. Winners are determined by the 1,000 members of the Brit Awards Academy.

Gorillaz are up for six awards in next months Brit Awards ceremony. That's according to Bigmouth Music News, which reports Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Dido each are nominated in four categories.

This year's Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to Sting.

The awards will be presented Feb. 20 in ceremonies that'll air the next day on ITV.
