Fall 2002 Ratings Period 1!October 2002 has been magical...but not for corporate out of town interests running the San Diego radio stations. The winners are the radio stations that have been running the Major League Baseball playoffs and the World Series, if the listeners in the San Diego Outland area can find them as they were on five different AM stations during the course of this crazy October. October was the month that KGB fired Jim McInnes, and with "The Last DJ" saying what he wants to say looking for a new radio job, it doesn't look like the ratings for KGB will be increasing anytime soon. While "Cheap" Channel floundered, internet radio continues to gain listners at the expense of time listening to San Diego radio. Registered voters have been sending in what stations they listened to each day via e-mail and registration number, but a few of them were DQd for stuffing the ballot with votes for nothing but Clear Channel owned radio stations. What dopes! This is why radio folks cannot vote in the Evalutrons: there's too many of them that work for Clear Channel and their numbers will unfairly skew the ratings in their favor. I'm not sure about whether they are qualified to vote in Arbitron. Anyway, the Fall 2002 Period 1 Ratings for the San Diego listeners only rate the following stations they have been hearing. We combined the new and old ratings system back to a single ratings system as follows:
Stations below the 1.0 rating: KOGO, XTRA, ESPN 800, KSDO, Radio Disney, KPOP, 91X, Channel, My, B, KOOL, Bob, KGB, KIOZ, Planet. Top Morning Shows: 1. John Boy & Billy, 2. Jeff & Jer (Star 100.7), 3. Bob & Tom, 4. Madison & Tony (KPRI), 5. Howard Stern (KLSX, KIOZ), 6. Rick Dees (KIIS-FM, KIIS-XM), 7. Mark & Brian (KLOS), 8. Tony & Kris (KSON), 9. Mark Larson (KCBQ, KRLA), 10. Chris Cantore (91X) Note: audience usually drops off sharply after the morning shows end, except for some radio stations. To get in on the Evalutron survey, e-mail the editor of this website or you won't be entered. Radio pros and columnists are ineligible to vote. |
