Oldies and Oddities UpdateListen to Oldies and Oddities at its new time, Saturdays at 1pm, on KKSM 1320 in Oceanside! From: ZEB AND JEN Hello there faithful supporter/listener, We returned this week to wonderful land of O&O after a two week hiatus (due to Zeb's health problems) and we returned. However as you know we broadcast outta the high end desert/mountain area of San Marcos (Jen's hometown) where the station is located at and our transmitter is in Oceanside (Zeb's political stomping grounds and hometown). Sometimes we wish we broadcasted from Oceanside because THE STUDIO AIR CONDITIONING WAS BUSTED!!!!!!!! And in San Marcos the temperature was in-between INFERNO and SUN (aprox. 89-92 degrees!), so as the show progressed we tried our best to stay focused, however when you are sweating, nose is dry and ready to bleed, dehydrated, and other effects of too much heat you begin to hallucinate and are thrown off course (Zeb hallucinated about a half naked Indian beckoning him to a sand dune ::riders on the storm::) so the show kinda went downhill especially after the last hour when Zeb began feeling ill (Zeb was still not 100% well enough). But it was a good show anyways. But boy was it hot!!! And we did pay tribute to the late Carrol O'Connor by playing a track from the "Archie and Edith: Side by Side" album. And solved the mystery of "Song of the Burmese Land", she's saying AFPFL not @$$hole. Remember folks next Saturday June 30, 2001 we will be on at a different time! We start at 1:00PM right after the EncourageMint Show with "Action" Jack McClendon and our show will end at 4:00PM. And of course some sad news =( Jen will not be in the studio next week as she will be attending a massive family reunion in Northern California but she will be back the week after with us. And be sure to check out our good buddies at the links below and news about the mysterious Langley Elementary School recordings. Until then look to the stars..........and be sure to drink AriZona brand drinks especially the Ice Tea with Ginsing extract (it helped the hosts stay focused and quenched our thirst).
With love and respect P.S. You can e-mail us at zebandjen@yahoo.com or at oddoldies@aol.com =) Playlist for Oldies and Oddities June 23, 2001 Note: Due to the hallucinations and side effects of heat exhaustion we don't know when the hour started! The Langley Schools Music Project. It will be released sometime in the fall. In the summer of 1976 in a remote farm town of Langley, British Columbia Canada, a music instructor named Hans Fengler recorded 9-year olds kids from all the elementary schools in Langley and got them in a gymnasium to perform current tunes. The kids sung in a 60 person chorus and played all the instruments themselves, including Orfs-Shewlverk chimes and bells. What resulted is a haunting and inspiring recording of tunes like: Fleetwood Mac's "Rhianna", The Eagles' "Desperado" (as sung by a 8-year old girl singing her heart out, made Zeb cry), Bay City Rollers' "Saturday Night", Paul McCartney's "Band on the Run", Herman Hermits' "Something Good", Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", David Bowie's "Space Oddity" (he loved the Langley version better than his own!), and much more. The original record was released for parents, students, teachers of the Langley Elementary Schools. The CD reissue is the first time this masterpeice will be available to the public. The album will be available in stores this Fall. Will keep you up to date. And I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! You will be in awe after you listen to these kids. That's all for now and thanks for listening! Zeb and Jen
