San Diego Radio Survey 2000

Don Barrett is doing a radio survey about Los Angeles radio. Let's do one for San Diego radio.

The only rules that you must be within the signal range of the majority of the San Diego radio signals (living in South Orange or Riverside counties is okay). Commuters to San Diego from elsewhere are also welcome to participate. If you can't answer a question (out of range or don't listen), just say none and move on to the next question.

1.When you get up in the morning, what radio station do you turn on?
2.Who do you think is the outstanding personality currently on the air in San Diego radio?
3.What format do you listen to most?
4.Which station do you tune to when you want up-to-the minute traffic news?
5.Which personality or station do you listen to most in morning drive (6-10 a.m.)?
6.Which personality or station do you listen to most in middays (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.)?
7.Which personality or station do you listen to most in afternoon drive (3 p.m. - 7 p.m.)?
8.Which personality or station do you listen to most in the evening (7 p.m. - midnight)?
9.Which personality or station do you listen to most during the all-night hours?
10.Overall, which San Diego radio station do you feel is best programmed?
11.During the week, on the average, how many hours do you spend listening to the radio?
12.Over the weekend, on the average, how many hours do you spend listening to the radio?

Note: For people who give out more than one answer, votes are split accordingly.

13.Misc Comments:
Why doesn't KFMB 760 have traffic during their top of the hour newscast?
XTRA-sports 690 needs to play Jim Rome LIVE!
DSC is great.
92.5 the Flash was the best station EVER..... now it's just R&B crap. Change it back!
IS there any up to the minute traffic news? Airwatch Traffic is pathetic! It's rarely accurate!
Excellent! Didn't DFSX was available - thanks!
Don't get p---ed.
Listen To SBL http://allhitssbl.homestead.com/
Too many commercials and breaks that are too long
KRTH plays the "same songs over and over."
I can't stand talk radio. Mos of the hosts are morons, no matter what side of the political arena they are on. Though I will say that KGO (up until about three years ago) was the only talk station I did listen to...
I don't tune in a station specifically for traffic. If traffic is on at the time, I listen to it on that station.
I've sampled everyone. It's unreal what's on - it sucks so bad.
I have not found any stations in San Diego that I can put up with in order to wait for the traffic. I've been here for only 10 years, and I can't even think of a local NEWS station. I suppose XTRA 690am does traffic during Jim Rome's show.
Whatever station's playing good music.
I check my email and head to work. It's so close I have no time for radio in the morning (which is actualy sort of sad...)
I watch a video rental in the morning.
Howard Stern in the morning (2 votes), but I switch to the Internet after he's done
KNX (L.A.) at home before leaving for work, KROQ (L.A.) after getting in the car
Hot Country 99.3, they're not afraid to play REAL country music
never had to listen to traffic reports. when on the freeway just listen to traffic reports on whatever station is selected. (which happens to be the one not playing commercials or yacking.)
Don't Listen to Morning Radio: At work during these hours. I sleep during these hours. I just scan around. I have a TV on in my car.
Midday Station: None. Reasons: I'm working! I listen to dance MP3's at work. I listen to worldclassrock.com at work.
I don't Listen to radio at night. Reasons: I watch TV at night. I listen to radio if there's a good game on to listen to.
I would never tune a station because of a "personality", it's because of the music they're playing! I watch TV at night. Sleeping.
You mean they aren't ALL voicetracked?
San Diego needs a dance station like Party 95.3 out of Orlando. I would say KOGO if they dumped Dr. Laura and hire Stacy Taylor in her place.

1. 5:30, and I turn on Kayson
2. Ted Leitner and Tony and Chris
3. 80's music
4. ------
5. Tony and Chris on Kayson 97.3
6. the mix or B94
7. -------
8. Xtra sports
9. ------
10. B94 or the mix
11. 30
12. 2

My wife likes country more than I do but I am hooked on Tony and Chris as they can be dirty which I like but do it in a way
that my kids are not asking my wife and I what stuff means. Leitner says what is on his mind and that is what I like about him.
