This is David again. Thanks to Chachi for filling you all in for the past few days.
I arrived back in San Rubio after a trip to Atlantica Island with Albert, Beverly, Scott, Hoss, Carlotta, and Alyssa. Sorry Lenny got killed again. Oh well.
Tonight was the Penultimate Vernalmas Holiday Party, a new holiday tradition as we're in the next to the last holiday of the Vernalmas holiday season.
Earlier this afternoon, there were 4 games played with 16 teams out of 8,192 that survived. This evening, pairs of the winners of the games played again on the same day. There were 2 more games played with 4 players. The big finale is tomorrow. It should be big. I'll tell you who the final two are tomorrow.
I spent the day checking out several of the digital radio stations in the El Zona region. I wanted to check them out while I still had a chance. Here's what I found on the dial.
89.93 FM - Gregorian Chant Radio - this is nice. These acts are actually Monks (all male) who perform covers of popular hits of the rock era from the top 40 charts of the past 54 years. Just for fun, some of the songs covered were Purple People Eater, Beep Beep, Eat It, and they even covered one of my songs in chant mode: Alyssa Milano.
94.17 FM - Amish Heaven - songs about the Amish lifestyle as well as advertisements and public service programs for products aimed at the Amish.
92.39 FM - Comedy FM Classics - FM radio in the real world was interesting. Album cuts from albums of the 60s and 70s as well as classic rock songs of that era is the format. Everything from Firesign Theater to National Lampoon to Bob Newhart to of course Frank Zappa, as well as Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Beatles. This is one of my favorite stations on the dial.
102.37 FM - Old School World - funk, early rap, disco, soul, and other R&B classics from the 70s to the 80s. Never boring.
101.64 FM - Radio Man - an all male entertainment station that features popular talk shows, popular sports, game shows, and other programs aimed at the men.
97.21 FM - Groove Galaxy - techno and electronica from the 90s and today. Perfect to drive your car to.
94.43 FM - Folk U - folk and filk songs of stimulating nature.
101.43 FM - K-Erf 101 - oldies from the 50s through the mid 70s.
99.99 FM - Almost 100 Radio - all pop songs from the late 90s. Too much Backstreet and Britney for my tastes.
100.00 FM - Exactly 100 Radio - psychedelia rock from the 60s. Groovy!
103.45 FM - KHIPP was playing all Equimas music until last week. It flipped to polka heavy metal.
94.16 FM - Married...With Children audio. Nothing better to do than to play the sound from the Fox TV sitcom from the 80s and 90s all day. Their website has the accopanying streaming video.
99.14 FM - K-Planet features the popular Ray and Huck morning show, then kick ass rock and roll all day long.
105.22 FM - K-RACK - heavy metal rock.
106.50 FM - Q106 - the Q lives in El Zona! Pop and dance hits from the late 80s to early 90s.
104.33 FM - KDISCO - all disco all the time. Boogie!
98.60 FM - Health Radio - at 98.6, it's the perfect frequency for health topics and programming.
93.96 FM - classical punk - classical versions of 70s punk rock favorites.
89.96 FM - metropolis radio - music for the city.
91.74 FM - Xanna FM - the goddess of the eternal rainbow color spectrum has a station devoted to the religion of Xannaism.
102.71 FM - KILL FM - at this radio station, people bring in bad records, and the deejays make fun of it while it plays, then smash it into pieces. Bad artists such as Alicia Keys and Evanessence are popular targets for destroying of their music.
100.33 FM - Geek Radio - programming and music for geeks. Also tips on how NOT to get married.
After spending the day with the radio, I went with Scotty and Chachi to the TV City DVD TV store. It's shaped like an HDTV set.
We went in and there's a big huge poster in the promotions foyer. It was plugging advance order taking for, yup, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch Volume Four." We know this show was as big in this realm as I guess the Ana Tijuana sitcom is today. This reminds me to update my Melissa Joan Hart minisite once I get home with this information. Back in the early 90s, every Indian casino in the Eastern and Northern parts of San Rubio county had TV rooms with "Sabrina" on the ABC then the WB while people dined on a Friday night. After that, the theater flipped to playing classic movies from the 60s and 70s. The second favorite show at the time? "Everybody Loves Raymond."
Dean, who's maintaining my website davesfunstuff.com in the real world, just let me know that I can watch reruns of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on my Sarah Michelle Gellar minisite. He also added Willie Aames' book "Grace is Enough" on my eightisenough.com page. He also got hooked on the NCAA college hoops tournament and is rooting for UCLA, his alma mater.
He also let me know that Valerie Bertinelli's book "Losing It" fell to number two after three weeks at number one. Only Hannah Montana could have a book that's #1 longer than Valerie nowadays.
Back to TV City, we purchased a DVD series of the TV show "Gilligan's Island" and watched a few episodes at Scotty's house.
Nighttime came. Angelina made us a great turkey and vegetable dinner. Carlotta, and Alyssa also joined in.
All day long, Conan, Wilma, Mindy, Jennifer, and Wendy spent the day fitting the 99 cent watches (the analog kind onky) with special glue that would stick to the demons coming from the hellmouth underneath Sunnychip.
The plan was to get the demons to travel from Sunnychip, where the town doesn't observe Daylight Saving Time, which begins at 2am this Sunday morning in this country, to Sautee, which does. We plan to use special guns to shoot the watches so that they stick on the demons at 1:59 AM, then when Daylight time begins in Sautee a minute later, they will be transported to the Wrong Time Zone.
Sid the vampire as well as Lance, Gina, and a few of his other friends plan to help lead the demons to the party nearby in the Funita Ranch area of Sautee where the party is happening.
Barb, Marcie, Patty, and Ellen came to the party with their dates Lisa, Nancy, Kim, and Charlotte, Mindy's sisters. They were setting up the festivities for the party all day.
Hoss, Adam, Ben Jr., Joseph, and Hoss Jr. spent the day enjoying some new comedy music that just came in at the Comedy Music Worldwide Ministries Headquarters. A brand new comedy music song came their way and they say it's going to be a big novelty song hit. The subject matter is about the death of a popular culture icon of the last century. It's about a funeral for the analog black and white television set.
It's 9:45pm Pacific Standard Time as I'm concluding part one of the Saturday Night entry. Let's hope that all goes well.
This is the last diary entry for this blog while I'm in El Zona. I'll post the recap of Saturday night's party and our efforts to eradicate the demon threat, as well as highlights of the Big Balloon Parade and other stuff that's coming my way as the Vernalmas Holiday Season and my trip concludes.
I'll rejoin Myspace already in progress when I get home on Monday morning after I return to San Diego.
Cya.
