This is Chachi filling in for David. Once again, I apologize for being a day late, but with my friends in outer space, the space mails coming from the Enterprise to my house is sproadic, and as I'm writing this in the middle of Thursday evening, I don't have all of the recaps for Thursday from my folks yet, so therefore, here's what happened Wednesday.
8am Atlantica Daylight Time (3am Pacific Standard Time), the Starship Enterprise was getting ready to blast off towards the satellite Al, when Professor Albert Edison received a phone call in his cell phone. It came from the General of the Atlantica Air and Space Station, requesting that takeoff be delayed due to incoming special personnel.
9am Atlantica Daylight Time (4am Pacific Standard Time), escorts brought in Mindy and Wilma to the base. The Colonel was asked by the General to play Mindy's recorder to the Enterprise crew and to my friends. It was my voice (Chachi) requesting that Mindy and Wilma accompany the crew on the space mission for reasons of world saving importance and their help will be of their advantage in the mission of the possibility of saving Erf and its satellite planets.
The Colonel asked Captain James T. Picard to find a way for his crew to accompany Mindy and Wilma so that their services will be of use. The Captain asked the Colonel what their expertise in space missions is. The Colonel turned to Mindy and Wilma, who told them flat out that they have superpowers that Captain Picard and the Captains before that may have encountered Erflings and other planetary beings that have superpowers of some kind such as sorcery.
Captain Picard was still confused. David stepped in and told him that since his folks came from a land with a Wizard, a witch, and a girl with powers, and they're going to the dark side of the moon, there is a strong connection between the two that synchs up with each other nicely just like playing Pink Floyd's CD "Dark Side of the Moon" three times while watching "The Wizard of Oz" with the sound turned down.
The Captain was somehow convinced to let Mindy and Wilma come aboard to help them in their mission.
10am Atlantica Daylight Time (5am Pacific Standard Time), we have liftoff!
Albert, Beverly, David, Scott, Hoss, Lenny, Alyssa, Carlotta, Mindy, and Wilma are aboard the Enterprise. Captain James T. Picard, Commander William Spock, Dr. Crush Phlox, engineer McKenzie La Forge, communucations officer Ulura, helmsman Suhu, navigator Gorbachev, security officer Lt. Gorf, counselor Traci Dean, android Lt. Commander Text, translator Maria Longoria, and some 400 other crew members were aboard.
11am Atlantica Daylight Time (6am Pacific Standard Time), the Enterprise reaches the distant satellite Al at 100,000 miles away from Erf. They have positioned themselves far enough from Al so they could defend itself in case inhabitants from Al fire at them.
Picard ordered Ulura to initiate all hailing frequencies towards Al. Ulura tells Picard that the Emperor of Al has received the hailing frequency and is ready to talk. Picard ordered "on screen." The Emperor's image is on the screen. The Emperor welcomes Picard and the crew and asks why they're coming to visit the satellite Al. Picard tells the Emperor that there is some rockets blasting into the satellite Rush and they would like to know why and what the contents of the rockets are that's going into Rush. The Emperor tells the Captain that they would have to beam down a crew in person but would have to leave behind their phasers. The Captain tells the Emperor that they would if they would promise that no harm would come their way. The Emperor tells the Captain that he can't promise that if the exlorer crew attacks the people on Al. Picard tells the Emperor that they will send down some of the crew to have a word with him. The Emperor tells Picard that he will be waiting and his office is at a certain coordinate where Picard can beam his crew to. The Emperor ceases transmission of his signal.
Picard tells the crew that the Emperor doesn't sound like he's to be trusted too much, so he decides to select some of his main crew and asked for a few volunteers.
Spock, Crusher, Text, Hoss, Scotty, Alyssa, Lenny, and Louie will be beamed down to the coordinates given by the Emperor. They get into the transporter room. La Forge energizes the transporters. The explorer team land outside the Emperor's office. Spock is the acting leader of the team.
The land around the Emperor's office is mostly barren with Al Military troops guarding it. The troops come to the explorer team. Spock tells the troops that they are to be escorted to the Emperor to have a word regarding the rockets being fired into the satellite Rush. The troops escort the explorer team to the Emperor.
Spock introduces himself and his crew from the Enterprise to the Emperor, but the Emperor's attitude is rather closer to uncivilized. Spock asks the Emperor what the idea for firing rockets into Rush is about. The Emperor tells Spock that they are firing the rockets to make Rush glow brighter and warmer so that the dark side of Al would not be in darkness all the time. Spock asks the Emperor what chemicals are inside the rockets. The Emperor tells Spock that it is top secret and he won't divulge. Spock tells the Emperor that repeatedly firing chemicals into Rush may cause it to explode and wipe out all forms of life. The Emperor tells Spock that they're going to use just enough chemicals to make Rush light up and keep Al's dark side from freezing up all the time. Text interjects and informs the Emperor that making Rush into a Sun would cause Erf and its satellites to incur runaway global warming and that would wipe out all forms of life including Al's. The Emperor tells Text that Al is so naturally cold at night that having Rush emit enough heat and light but not causing it to explode will keep Al's dark side from freezing up ever again. Crusher asks the Emperor if letting everybody else on the other planets die because of Rush turning into a Sun would benefit Al more. The Emperor was beginning to get upset and asked his guards to seize the explorer crew and put them into a prison. The guards came in with spears. The explorer crew resisted. The guards began to attach the explorer crew. The crew fought back. One of the guards threw a spear at Lenny. At the same time, Hoss slugged one of the guards backwards. Lenny was pushed out of the way at the last second by the backwards-moving guard who was slugged by Hoss. The spear missed them both and it hit Louie and knocked him down. Crusher came to his aid and turned on her life sensory device to look for vital signs of life in Louie. She found none. The spear killed Louie instantly. Yes, Louie was a redshirt. Redshirts always die in the mission on a planet.
The fight went on, but all of a sudden, just as the Emperor's guards in a panic to control the explorer team, threw the spears at them with the intention of killing everybody, everything stopped. Only Alyssa was mobile. She grabbed the communicator from Spock and opened up communications to La Forge. La Forge answers. Alyssa asks La Forge to beam her and the crew back up. La Forge beams them back up into the Enterprise. Just as Spock, Crusher, Text, Hoss, Scotty, Alyssa, Lenny, and Louie's body all energize and leave, the Emporer and his guards began moving again, but were surprised that the explorer crew suddenly disappearred.
1pm Atlantica Daylight Time (8am Pacific Standard Time), the explorer crew were back aboard the Enterprise. They put Louie's body in the morgue section of the ship and would give him a proper memorial once the crew return back to their time.
Spock tells Picard what the Emperor told the crew and suspected that Alyssa stopped time with her superpower so that she could call La Forge in time to beam them up. Picard tells Spock that he has some thinking to do about the situation.
A rocket fired from one of the bases on Al and it was aimed towards the Enterprise. Gorf tells Picard that a rocket coming their way has to be destroyed, so he asks Computer to fire at it with a photon torpedo. The photon torpedo fires at the rocket and hits it, destroying it in an explosion.
Another rocket fires at the Enterprise. Gorf tells Picard that the photon torpedo is jammed and cannot fire. Picard asks helmsman Suhu to move the ship. Suhu says that the ship is moving, but the rocket is following the ship and it cannot escape. Picard asks Gorf if the photon can fire. Gorf tells him that it's still jammed. The Enterprise is moving faster, but the rocket continues to follow. Finally, just as the rocket is about to hit it, Mindy uses her superpower to deflect the rocket 180 degrees as by then it was close enough in her range for it to be affected. Gorf tells Picard that the photon torpedo is operational again, but Picard tells Gorf to save the torpedo because the rocket headed back to Al and destroyed an unknown object on Al.
Picard asks what in the name of Kirk made the rocket turn around and return to Al. Text tells Picard that he senses a field of energy coming from Mindy just as the rocket came within striking distance of hitting the ship. Picard has witnessed another super power. First, Alyssa, and now Mindy. Picard is thinking that he's glad that he listened to the Colonel back on Erf to bring the heroes crew aboard.
The Enterprise moved to a safe distance from Al and would return once Picard has a plan to stop Al's rocket firing into Rush. A rocket fired from Al and was heading into Rush. Worf told Computer to fire a strong photon torpedo and destroy the rocket. The photon fired off and hit the rocket, destroying it. Uluru told Picard that the Emperor wants to talk. Picard says "on screen." An angry Emperor appears, and demands that the ship return home and stop destroying his rockets. Picard tells the Emperor that he will use all of his might to stop him from firing any more rockets into Rush. The Emperor tells Picard that he will fire some rockets into Erf and other surrounding satellites as his rockets are strong enough to destroy millions of life forms on the planetary bodies. Picard tells the Emperor that he will order his ship to leave, but will have a fleet fo ships ready to attack Al if he fires one rocket and hits Erf or any of its satellites. The Emperor tells Picard to never wander within his range again or a planet will be hit by a rocket, then he turns off his communication.
Picard tells Spock that he has the Bridge and exits to his office to talk with counselor Dean and Lt. Commander Text.
Dean tells Picard that she suspects that the Emperor's wish is to have a planet that's inhabitable for his citizens and doesn't care who else suffers in his quest to make his satellite Al livable. Text informs Picard that Al doesn't rotate on its axis as it rotates around Erf, but due to its atmospheric makeup, the light side of Erf is livable, though hot, while the dark side of Erf is about the equivalent of 40 degrees below zero, an unlivable condition for the inhabitants on Al.
Picard asks Text what if there was a way to make the satellite Al rotate like that on the other satellites. Text tells Picard that ways to make a planetary body rotate or change rotation exist in the year 3,210 A.D. when a crew sucessfully made the planet Chardi begin to rotate after a hundred years of global chemical damage to the core of Chardi which caused it to stop rotating.
Picard asks Dean if it would be the best of the interests of the inhabitants of Al to be transported to another satellite or Erf with livable conditions. Dean tells Picard that Erf and the other planets may be hospitable to them, but estimates that with a satellite half the size of The Moon, the amount of people may number in the low billions max, and it would be too much work for anybody to handle.
Picard asks Text if the Enterprise is well equipped to handle the job of making Erf begin rotating. Text tells Picard that with the size of Al, they would need three ships to do the job, whereas planet Chardi was three times less in size than Al.
Gorbachev enters the office and tells Picard that he needs to move the ship to a defensive position so that the ship can intercept any rockets that are fired from Al that may be aimed towards Erf and its satellites. Picard tells Gorbachev to move it to a safe enough distance so that it can not only defend the satellites, it can fire at the rockets heading towards Rush. Gorbachev said he would see what he could do to find a position for the ship.
Gorbachev went and asked Suhu if it was possible for him to position the ship in a position so that it can defend the satellites and Rush. Suhu said that the ship would have to be positioned between Al and Rush, but have Erf and most of the major satellites within reach of its defensive photons to intercept the rockets coming from Al. Gorbachev plotted a course to take the ship to a position without Al's radar system from picking up the ship's prescence.
11pm Atlantica Daylight Time (6pm Pacific Standard Time), the main crew decides to get some sleep while the back crew takes over the command and operation of the ship.
At the time, David, Scotty, Hoss, and Albert relay their account of the happenings back to me.
Meanwhile, back on Erf, during Wednesday, not much excitement in comparison to what's been going on here. I took care of Conan while I explained to Wendy and Jennifer that Mindy and Wilma had to go aboard the Eneterprise to save the crew and possibly the world.
Lance traded his radio station in Mira Mira for a radio station in Green Acorns with a farmer who wanted to move into the city. Lance was busy moving out of his condo and into one in Green Acorns where he could live with Gina, who wanted to leave her apartment full of roommates and she needed some room to grow.
I didn't hear from Sid Barb, Marcie, Patty, Ellen, Adam, Ben Jr., Joseph, and Hoss Jr. on Wednesday.
I'll have Thursday's recap early Saturday morning.
