It was a Monday morning at 4:59am. Several hundred radio stations were getting ready to switch away from the lamented Brian Radio brand playlists to the first minute of the El Zona Thon for 108 hours straight. Chachi and Angelina planned to co-host the telethon to raise ransom for Mindy in the morning and afternoon drive shifts from 6-9am and 3-6pm, with various other well-known radio personalities in the El Zona realm alternating for the rest of the shifts.
Meanwhile, at the castle on Mount La Goony where it was 5:59am, the creepy looking man was getting a bit nervous as he has been up all night worrying about the Brian Radio brands in the area.
Then, one minute later, the music stopped on the radio. The music also stopped on the city's intercoms carrying Brian Radio. The area's Internet radio stations all went silent but not dark. A few seconds later, some big band music from a local live band played, followed by the announcement by a local radio deejay that the 108 hour El Zona Thon had just begun and ready to start accepting donations. They need to raise almost $100,000 an hour for each of the 108 hours during the entire stretch of the telethon.
The creepy looking man, began to scream, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!".
The creepy looking man's name, was Brian. Last name: Schmuck.
Brian Schmuck had been behind sending out the e-mails with trojan horses to infect the music databases scattered around the El Zona realm in order for him to open a backdoor to the computer systems so he could replace the playlists enjoyed by almost all of the El Zona realm with top 40 CHR songs that only Ryan Seasick could be proud of. It was his computer that caused many radio stations to flip off the music formats last week, and as of today, the remaining ones, as well as the El Zonaian Internet network and the city's intercoms. Brian was completely mad.
Back in the main city, Albert the scientist succeeded in sending a virus to the area's internet service providers, city's intercoms, and music databases where they opened up the e-mails with the trojans willingly, cut off the power of Brian Schmuck from the castle in Mount La Goony, and turned the power to run them over to a studio in downtown San Rubio where KSEBQ, a top billing AM radio station in the area, was originating the telethon. KSEBQ, in turn, was relaying the feed to participating radio stations to simulcast the telethon, as well as all of the city's intercoms and all locally-produced Internet radio stations, all with the purpose of getting as many people to donate as possible. With the El Zona area population of some 20 million people, each person can easily donate 50 cents.
The telephones started ringing with pledges. The special websites that were for the purpose of collecting Pay How donations for the telethon were launched. Chachi and Angelica came on an hour later for their shift, with live broadcasts from the cars passing by the drive-through radio studio. Their studio also doubled as a Joke in the Box restaurant on the driver's side where people could watch the deejays talk and interact with them while they wait for their food to arrive from the drive-up window.
Hoss from the Comedy Music Worldwide Ministries Ministries called Albert to tell him that so far, the virus worked and his computer is no longer being controlled by Brian Schmuck. Albert's computer card invention is being tested on Hoss's computer while offline for the time being. In Albert's lab, his cloned assistants somehow manage to find copies of music of other genres stored in basements for Albert to use in his invention. Later that day, Albert found the memory chipset he needed from Comp El Zona, which was a 500GB ROM, enough to store 500,000 mp3s of music, along with programs needed to access the computer card invention with the mp3s stored as a non-rewritable drive.
D.T. and Scotty wake up at around 8am and call up Chachi and Angelica to give them some support. So do Angelica's roommates Alyssa and Carlotta, who plan to do their talk show with updates on their non-telethon FM talker. Alyssa, later in the day, managed to get the Friday's airing of the Tom Leycuss radio show featuring Carl the caller from Westgood One Radio Networks, and sent a copy of that to Wendy, who couldn't find anybody with an mp3 of last Friday's broadcast. Wendy studied the Leycuss tape featuring Carl talking about "Sue" and last Friday's Alyssa and Carlotta show featuring the boss kidnapping Mindy and heard some background noise from the callers in both broadcasts that were similar, with some kind of machine running in the background with things going round making noise. It turns out that it was a clothes dryer running in the nearby pantry. Wendy figured that the two calls originated from the same place 30 minutes apart, but can't tell from where. Later that afternoon, Wendy phones in Alyssa during her radio show about her findings. Alyssa tries to contact Westgood One about where Carl's phone originated from when he called Leycuss last Friday, but the office was too busy. Carlotta tells the phone-in callers to turn on their Caller ID transmissions or their computerized telephone system would reject the callers with their phone numbers blocked.
The boss tries to phone in Alyssa and Carlotta during their show, but was blocked because his phone number was private. So the boss hires a courier to send his messages to Alyssa and Carlotta with fingerproof letters describing his demands.
Back inside the castle, Brian Schmuck discovered that the e-mails he sent had the wrong year stamped, as 1910 instead of 2010. Nobody knows where the e-mails sent since the new decade began originated from as of yet.
Brian tells the boss of the castle that his radio station playlists went silent and is running the El Zona Thon on every area medium. The boss tells Brian to come up with another virus that would give him back control of the music database computer systems that feed the radio stations music. Brian figures that when the El Zona Thon ends, there are still well over 100 radio stations that would need programming since most of them are too poor to produce their own shows, so Brian Radio might rise again after 5pm Friday when the telethon ends.
Locked at the top of the castle, giroy Mindy was upset and doesn't know what's going to happen to her and doesn't know about the El Zona Thon that's going on. The boss unlocks and opens the door to see Mindy in tears asking why she can't wear her dresses anymore. The boss says that Carl wants her to look like a boy for the time being. Mindy wants the boss to keep her away from Carl or he might kill her as he said he would when she ran away from her in the butch lesbian cabin last week. The boss said that he had to let her go whether they raise the $10,000,000 for Wendy or nothing for Carl. Mindy says that she would rather have you for a male father than Carl. The boss got a bit choked up a bit and said that he just can't handle any kids in his life. He closed and locked the door, and went downstairs.
During the telethon, many local musicians got free plugs and sang some songs in exchange for donating $100 towards the ransom fund for Mindy. Also showing up at the telethon to donate money (as well as to publicize their businesses, of course) were Papa Yawn's Pizza, which was the most boring pizza in the realm, Six-Thirteen and Nine-Seventeen convieience stores, knockoffs of Eight-Fourteen, Lossy Cars new car chains, Cons supermarkets, SICK Studios, Qualdumb Communications, troops from the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Gay Scouts, Lesbian Scouts, Geek Scouts, Giroy Scouts, and Fat Scouts chapters, the San Rubio Zoo and Sea Planet animal parks, and all of the strippers at the local area strip clubs.
All during the day, there were public service announcements about this day of Vernalmas as one-minute educational films about wildlife was seen near the top of each hour of the TV broadcast day. This was the day that the TV and radio stations had to promote animal wildlife and what people can do to live with them as they live all over the realm.
