What's My Beef!

Case in point: The Boy Scouts of America.

With heterosexual males often picking on gays in school and in other public and private places, why would a gay male initiate court action to force the Boy Scouts to accept people that they are not set up to accomodate in the first place? I am totally puzzled over this.

On Tuesday, the San Diego City Council voted 6-3 in favor of extending the Boy Scout lease in Balboa Park for 25 years, with an option for 15 more.

Jimmy Valentine in yesterday's Flashfax, who produces the Roger Hedgecock show on KOGO (The Crown Jewel of the Clear Channel Empire so to speak), said in the e-mail, and remember, this is all quoted...

"DON’T LOOK NOW, BUT YOU JUST WON A ROUND…amazing, ain’t it? Because you showed up in force yesterday at San Diego City Council, the vote went our way…6-3 to extend the Boy Scout lease in Balboa Park…not for the full 50 years but 25 + 15, which is okay. Democracy in action. Citizens doing the work of citizenship. Families, kids, civic leaders, mentors, religious leaders…our community stood tall and straight for a great American institution. ROGER spent most of yesterday on and off the radio at the council session thanking folks who turned out to defend the Boy Scouts.

"AND NO SMALL FEAT…one gay activist actually brought a 30-foot scroll upon which were written the names of towns and cities that have rejected the Boy Scouts. Hundreds and hundreds of communities that rejected America…rejected kids in the name of gay tolerance…HELLO!! The fact that San Diego stood in defiance makes your victory so sweet. We are home to the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marines and it is fitting that we would stand beside our young men and for all practical purposes save Scouting in San Diego.

"ROGER WILL BE LIBERAL (yikes) in his praise of y’all today on the radio. And knowing the boss he’ll ask us to use this victory to inspire us to other tasks of citizenship in the days ahead. We’re one of those red spots on the national map and we’re surrounded by blue spots…our impact is often limited to hometown (so we end up with Dufuss and a ledge full of nutballs) but this vote should echo across America. THANKS!!

"WE GOT TO THE COUNCIL SESSION early enough to hear comments from a lot of gay opposition folks regarding the Boy Scouts. Gag me with a spoon. Won’t belabor too much but we do note (having read the court documents) the folks who are currently suing the city over the Scout lease in Balboa Park have never ventured to the site of the Scout camp. The area is open to all but gays refuse to utilize the area while at the same time they say Scouts have exclusive use. And we have to laud a recent caller to ROGER’S radio show..Gary called from Presidio Park, live on the phone. He and a group of determined San Diegans have been working for years to end the practice of gays loitering there to participate in public sex. So far to no avail. Thus kids and families avoid the area (like you want John or Sally to see hairy guys copulating, right?)…Gary wonders why a city would even ponder kicking wholesome Boy Scouts from Balboa Park while at the same time refusing to kick gay perverts out of rest rooms and shaded areas of Presidio Park. And a final note…Imagine what would happen to Balboa Park if indeed the Boy Scouts were not there? And one more final note…check out a couple of the posts on ROGER’S News from a couple of days ago..health officials in San Francisco have thrown up their hands…despite a decade of public information and health warnings…gays continue to spread aids in what has once again become epidemic proportions. It is not polite to speak the truth…Being gay is not a lifestyle..it is a deathstyle."

This is D.T. again. Here is my perspective. What the Boy Scouts do is none of my business. They have their own rules they have established such as no athiests and no homosexuals in their belief that this is the best way for the organization to be run. The Boy Scouts are moral, not bigoted, and in no way does athieism is compatable with their organization that uses God in part to convert the children from juvenile deliquency to juvenile decency. You can't do that without God's guidance.

The Boy Scouts have determined that, according to however they interpreted the Holy Bible or other scriptures, that males craving other males is a threat, and some males are too immature to handle gay males. What do the young males do? They beat up the gays with fists and kick them with their boots. With weapons such as knives handy, it's just too horrible to think about. Gays get beaten up in school. They get beaten up in the playground. They get beaten up in alleys. Why? The young males don't know how to handle them in a mature way. Gays get harrassed verbally with name calling and other kinds of teasing, calling them "girls" or "Playtex" or other sissy names. Why would a gay want to be subject to any more harrassing from the morally straight males who, themselves, are convinced that any kind of human perversion, such as a gay or a trans, are an abomination of society.

Now I'm not passing judgment on any of the parties. I'm just telling it as I'm witnessing them. If the gays want to be scouts, have them form the Gay Scouts of America. If I had a gay son, I feel much safer if he was in the Gay Scouts where he is wanted then he would be if he was in the Boy Scouts of America. If he is straight, them I would not want him to be in the Gay Scouts because he would feel out of place there, just like a gay in a straight Scout organization.

So let's stop picking on the Boy Scouts and form the Gay Scouts of America complete with lavender uniforms, ivory tents, and pink doilies.
